The petition

Several women who competed in the world bridge championships in Shanghai last month are facing sanctions for displaying a sign that read, "We did not vote for Bush."

The United States Bridge Federation president claims this "isn't a free-speech issue" and that the organization is within its rights to consider banning members who express their political beliefs in this way.

Those of us signing this petition publicly stand with this women and say:

1) We too did not vote for Bush.

2) We wish to let the rest of the world know that we stand against his policies in Iraq and his refusal to disavow the legal use of torture.

3) We stand with you and will support you if the United States Bridge Federation takes action that threatens your livelihoods as professional bridge players because you stood up for our beliefs.

I read the article about these women in the New York Times and was inspired to take action, however small.
