The petition

While visiting a local Walmart, my 7 year old daughter found a 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Magazine located in the front of the magazine rack. The model on the cover does not have a top on. She has strategically located a beaded necklace to cover her front area.

I spoke with the Walmart manager and he said that he couldn't do anything. It had to stay on the rack because they have a contract with Sports Illustrated and, by law, they must keep the magazine on the rack. The only thing for me to do was call 1-800-WALMART to file a complaint, he advised. I decided to do more than that and now I am asking for your help.

This petition is to ask Walmart to take a stand for the children in our country and protect them from seeing sexually explicit material in their stores. We are asking that Walmart require their magazine suppliers to cover the magazine if it has ANY nudity OR sexually explicit language on the cover.

Walmart is the largest retail store is America. And, by being the largest store, it has the ability, and influence, to require their suppliers to cover these types of magazines.

Again, Walmart has a great opportunity to set a standard for retail stores and protect our children from this type of offensive and damaging material. The question is, will they?

Let them hear from you. If you are in agreement and do not want to see anymore offensive magazines at your Walmart store, please sign below. Let Walmart hear your voice.
