Lisa Ellison | Go for it. Hope we can get some kind of change. The system as it currently exists is completely unacceptable. I am one of the parents who may be fleeing the system next year. I certainly will never vote for another bond.
Mari-Jane Shaffer | My family has been harmed by the mandatory year round conversions. I have 3 children on 2 different schedules. The year round calendar has significantly decreased my youngest child's academic performance this year. As soon as he "gets in the groove", he tracks out. Decreased grades are significant, objective proof. Our family life is chaotic to say the least. We can't go anywhere together as someone is always in school. My 3 children are never out at the same time. This has posed an additional hardship and expense on my family. If all were on the same schedule, at least the older one could watch the younger ones for a couple of hours when needed. We have opted out of MYR for next year. We pray that this right does not get overturned! It is our only hope that normalcy may return to our family. It is too bad that we will have to pass 3 other elementary schools to get to our traditional option. We desperately need school reform and the only way to get it is to be able to vote for all school board members. My biggest question is why has this taken so long and why didn't our representatives support the previous bills?

Ken Shaffer | The board members who were the least impacted by MYR continue to press for it. The one that is impacted the most, they ignore. We need a mechanism to vote out those that don't listen to the parents. They passed a huge MYR bond in 06 under the lie that it was "for the kids". There is NO WAY MYR is for the kids...it breaks apart families by impacting our time together

Glenn Astolfi | There is a a clear and long term consistent pattern of the "inner belt line" school board representatives voting their districts own self interest and doing damage to the "suburban" schools. One clear example is that renovation money spent on "Raleigh" school compared to other parts of the county. Review the bond vote to see how it passed ONLY inside the beltline.
Gayle Sabol | We need to be able to elect ALL of our board members, not just one. I am looking forward to a day were all of our BOE members will be accountable to ALL parents. Thank you

Ashley Porter | It is the goal of parents throughout Wake County to see the school system succeed-we have a vested interest in that and want an equal voice.
Stephanie Bourne | I have had to go through the appeals process for the Wake County reassignment plan a few years ago. The two board members I spoke to could have cared less about my situation as I wasn't a vote for them. If we are forced to have decisions made for us by ALL the board members, then we need the opportunity to vote for ALL the board members.

Barry C. Kroll | I am one of the many who have spoken out against school board initiatives at meetings and have seen first hand the way their eyes glaze over the minute the comments start that contradict the school boards ideas. They have consistently shown that they cannot be trusted to listen to their constituency or apply their rules across the entire county. Mandatory Year Round is not Mandatory for Everyone! Most of the board needs to go! Let the voters decide in a general election who we think deserves to stay and who needs to go. Do away with the electoral process for school board members.
