The petition
Fellow Workers,
Consider Marx's message: Philosophers have only interpreted the world in various ways, the point, however, is to change it. We can change it peacefully and democratically applying our knowledge and number in elections, sending mandated MPs (delegates) to change the constitution passing a bill: We the people of India own all the means of production and articles of consumption in India. Workers everywhere will act likewise to end wages slavery ushering humanity in a global village.
Presently, people petition authorities they consider powerful, who, however, are powerless vis-a-vis all-powerful Commerce. We petition workers who are powerful to End Commerce and Change the World if they become class-conscious, reject capitalist cliques, join us to resolve class and ecology questions like Singur.
State-Repression
Singur is a fertile multi-crop river basin in Hooghly, West Bengal. The Left-Front government is grabbing some 1000 acres of farmland with habitations for a small-car factory of the multinational TATA, (and almost 113,000 acres in nine districts for others) despite availability of fallow lands (about 370 million acres besides 56,000 to 70,000 closed factories). The move appears political in that majority voters in Singur voted against the Left in recent elections.
Police actions vis-a-vis protests escalated - preventive 144, fencing, invading houses, torture, bloodshed, false cases, arrests including women and children, dispersing meetings, etc.
This reminds 'compulsory requisitioning' in Russia during the so-called 'War Communism' or forcible acquisition in China during the so-called 'Great Leap Forward'. Albeit differences, Singur faces acquisition of multi-crop farmland for the TATA Motors; Russia saw 'confiscation' of grains from peasants to feed the cities and China built factories discarding some 27 million peasants and labourers as famine fodders!
Left-Front government's onslaught on Singur is nothing new in the bloody annals of Lenin-Trotsky-Stalin-Hitler-Mussolini-Maoist pedigree. World knows the 'Right' butchers of workers - Paris Commune 1871, Chicago general strike to Hey Market Square 1886, Chile Pinochet regime 1973-1990 and lately Saddam's massacre of the Kurds and others in Iraq. However, workers are yet to know that the 'Left' is no less ruthless in perpetrating crimes against humanity - war, terror or peace.
Review Russia 1921: blood-drenched Kronstadt and the so-called 'New Economic Policy'(old private enterprise!). War, civil war and Bolshevik foolhardiness disorganized Russian economy brewing unrest and dissatisfaction fomenting peasant uprisings and workers' protests. The naval squadron at Kronstadt outside Petrograd - "the pride and glory" of the so-called Russian Revolution since March 1917 opposed 'the new Communist slavery', protested against 'the bureaucratic trade unions and the oppression of peasants' and demanded the 'election of Soviets'. The Government dispersed Petrograd meetings gagging workers to strike. Conversely, Lenin's calumny and Trotsky's order - 'Shoot them like partridges!' led his Red Army, and subsequently the Cheka, to massacre some 18,000 workers to quell the Bolshevik fear of workers' freedom.
Spain 1937: Leftist killers graduated into the Soviet imposed secret police organization in Barcelona murdered about 55,000 civilians, including about 4,000 women and several hundred children.
Remember 1989 Tiananmen Square bloodbath under swarming dead-night convoys of military tanks crushing some 3,000 and injuring 7,000 to 10,000 students for a sit-in demanding multi-party democracy.
The world's capitalist factions since 1870s are pouring money not only to champion the 'Right' politicians and economists with appallingly corrupting media coverage and education for wages slavery but also to raise the 'Left' with all twentieth century dictators masquerading 'communist' as 'Marxists' and Marx-abuser economists as prized icons.
All for 'Regional Capitalist Development' during World Capitalism's descending curve in the sense that capitalist production relations became fetters of total progress since early twentieth century.
What Can We Do?
We are not leftist reformers, leaders. We educate and organize workers for Socialism to end private property. We nourish a culture of social responsibility towards a democratically run universal ownership with free access for all shedding entire relations of classes, buying and selling, employment and borders with gradual dissolution of states. Socialism is democracy. We condemn state-repression under sham democracy anywhere anytime as at Singur involving all in private property.
Socialism resolves land question on eco-friendly basis with farms on fertile plains and river basins, such as Singur, factories on barren regions, sufficient forestations and meadows for green cover and housing on high green-sides communicating all.
Do-gooders, brainwashed since childhood by half-educated intellectuals and vulgar economists, harp on 'scarcity' and 'overpopulation' as causes of poverty and unemployment. Whereas society lives in plenty with 7.28 acres of food-growable land per person under the Sun delivering nearly 20,000 times Earth's primary energy consumption a "free lunch" for all. The FAO, established 1945 with home in Rome and some three thousand experts working there and another three thousand around the world, vouched to eradicate hunger. But, before ink dried up, its first Director General, Lord Boyd-Orr observed on 22 July 1949, "There was no difficulty about producing enough food for the present population of the world, or even twice that number, but the problem was, could politics and economics arrange that the food that was produced was dispersed and consumed in the countries that needed it?" In early 1970's agricultural economist, Colin Clark estimated: utilization of world's agricultural lands could feed 47 billion (47,000,000,000) people at the highest standard.
Still, we oppose indiscriminate mushrooming factories everywhere polluting environment and destroying ecology under the aegis of insane and compelling logic of capital.
Society today is global under one law - profit that sacks workers when they over-produce, and dumps food while workers starve!
Only workers can stop such lunacy by winning the world, which with a billion ballots is easier, safer and surer via universal suffrage than winning protests for crumbs via confrontation. Know your enemy, capitalist production relation. Change it with Socialism. There, equal humans and associated producers, you decide matters locally within direct assemblies, regionally and globally through bottom-up participatory democratic election of delegates revocable at short notice.
