Chuck | Lopez | WA | This is very unfair to raise the price of Bike fairs on WSF systems. I will take it less or not at all if this happens.
Marla | Meyer | |
Steve | Schaefer | WA | I believe everything said above is 100 percent true especailly the SUV point and bikes themselves HAVE NOT incresed in size by any means. I have built and rode bikes for years and know the measurements which have NOT changed 1 inch!. To that end there are more larger of the various type bikes on the road as there are more large SUV's in an unproportional way.
Dianna | Lopez | WA | If you continue to increase the fees I will do everything I can to avoid taking the ferries. We don't take up that much room so why should we have to pay more.

Kevin | Michal | WA | To base this increase on the increased size of motorcycles over the past 20 years is ludicrous. Wheel bases of motorcycles have not changed 3" in that time. A Gold Wing in 1986 is basically the same width as it's modern day counterpart. This increase should be spread across the board to all ferry riders, whether 2 wheels or 4.
Roger | Clapper | WA | The 14% rate increase for motorcycles is too steep of a rate change with no increase in services.

Daniel | Farage | WA | It's unfair to give a higher increase for motorcycles than cars. Why not charge more for the overweight walk-ons than the thin ones? Take up more space and weigh more causing more fuel usage. Let's get fair about this, OK?
Ronald | Rogers | WA | As with everything else connected with WSF they saw how much profit was being made by using the xtra space for motorcycles, now they admit there are more bikes on the road so that profit wasn't enough. Just want to get their hands deeper into our pockets.
Sandra | Collins | WA | We have a "large" motorcycle and it's still smaller than a Geo Metro.
David | Stunes | WA | I understand a rate increase is necessary, however I disagree with the amount. Even the largest motorcycle (2 wheel) is not 1/4 the size of an average size car much less the SUV and pick-up. Keep the percentage of rate increase equal for all ferry riders!!!!!!!
michael | stratman | WA | this is another example of the ferry systems attitude towards any mode of commuting other than 1 man 1 car.
Robert | Hafford | WA |
A. W. | Brown Jr | | I guess I could always ride around to get to Bremerton.
Eric | Sandbeck | WA |
John | Spoonemore | |
John | Cournoyer | WA | The majority of the time we are parked in the space that cars can not use. The SUV's and large pickups have grown proportionatly more than our motorcycles have.
Anonymous | Anonymous | WA | not all motorcycles have increased in size. many vehicles have increased in size as well.
Gerald | Cooley | WA |
Steve | Larsen | | How can the ferry system justify a rate increase when it is rather obvious that the vessels are overstaffed? It is quite simple to observe. As the ferry departs you can watch as the deck hands and vehicle loading staff make their way into various rooms behind closed doors, some on the car deck others up above. And then when the ferry pulls in, they shuffle out. How much work do the riders see them perform during a crossing? Zero. The restrooms, at least the mens, is usually filthy and out of stock on certain items. Why isn't one of these employees responsible for keeping it clean? How many employees is the daily ferry rider paying for? Do we honestly need that many? If so, what exactly are they doing while we can't see them? Shouldn't a few of them be out and about the passenger cabin? Those are my thoughts.
Richard | Welliver | WA | I commute by ferry to Bremerton as well as use the ferry to go to the Kitsap area
Grover | White | |

Robert | Morton | WA |
| 284 | Stephanie | Brown | WA | WSF is incorrect in stating that motorcycles are not tucked into the nooks and crannies anymore. As a former regular commuter, and now occasional ferry-rider, I know that in fact there are still those areas in the front and rear of the ferry where you can't fit a car, but two or three liter-plus bikes fit just fine (and that includes the GoldWings). Since there are four such areas, that would add up to 12 bikes that do not displace any cars. Most boats don't carry that many bikes on a single run, in my experience (although I don't ride the commuter runs anymore.)
So to my mind, a 14% increase does seem excessive compared to the 6% increase for cars. It's more than twice the increase level, and I don't think that is appropriate.
Motorcycles have been considered one-fifth the size of cars. But they don't pay one-fifth the price, they pay a bit less than half - in fact, 43%by my calculation. Under the proposed increase, they would pay 46% of the car's price. That is nowhwere near one quarter (25%) of a car, which is the space WSF says they take up if they're not in a nook or a cranny. |
Sam | Beavin | | I don't ride that much on the ferries but we are doing our part in reducing America's dependence on oil, and yes, it is fun as well. Still we do not need to be penalized unfairly. If you want more money, penalize vehicles with only one occupant.
Debbie | Tiedemann | WA | This is not faire at all, very dissapointed in our so called experts.
James | Ward | | I oppose the motorcycle fare increase.

Twila | Prociw | WA | YOU HAVE got to be kidding. 14%???? How screwed is that? Charge the people who only have one person in their car or SUV 14% more. They take up more space, use more gas and pollute one heck of a lot more than those of us who ride bikes. Keep raising the rates and NO ONE will ride.
John | Sincock | WA |
Bryan | Smith | WA | Motorcycles should get a reduction in ferry fares instead of an increase to reduce traffic congestion/pollution. The motorcycle fare increase is an outrage.
Heath | Williams | OR | I find it annoying that motorcyclists are singled out for a rate increase that is over double that of automobiles. This action shows that by leveling a higher tax on the minority it is likely to pass the majority. This mentality has me very concerned.
Monica | Walker | | This increase is not justified. The increase in motorcycle size is a pittance compared to the increased size of cars and suvs.
Richard | Tiedemann | OH | you all need to worry about the little guy in stead of trying to make your pockets fatter.
