| 201 | Alice | Cabrera | WA | My little Rebel 250 and my Ninja 500 both do not take up much room, are old style motorcycles, and haven't increased in size. Cars have increased when you consider the increase of SUVs on the road that get to go on as car rates. |
| 202 | John | Cox | WA | WSF makes an unsupported
statement:
"Motorcycles have grown in size over the years..." The burden of
proof is definitely upon Harris-Huether, the ferry system and the
state to statistically corroborate this allegation, and further to prove that other groups of users have not increased in similar
fashion. |

| 206 | Ron | Frey | | Fare increases should be the same for motorcycles as for any other vehicle. I understand the increase, as i am not against that at all, but an increase the same as other vehicles is what should be imposed. |
| 207 | John | Macfarlane | WA | Does this mean if I have a small bike, I won't be subject to the 14% increase? |
| 208 | JOSHUA | MILLER | WA | |
| 209 | Iain | Glynn | | What about everyone who's bike is less then 1/5th the size of a car? Why not a 50% increase on cars over 5000lbs? |
| 210 | Jon | Adams | | SUV's have increased must more than motorcycles - tax the space hogs, not us - especially 8% more than the cars! |
| 211 | Art | Ellison | WA | An increase of over twice the fare of other vehicles is discriminitory and unfair. My motorcycle is always loaded in the front in spaces not normally occupied by other motor vehicles. |
| 212 | William | Wahl | WA | They re-measured the bike to car ration from 5/1 to 4/1. Motorcycles have not changed in size and also fit into otherwise unusable areas on the ferries. |
| 213 | Bruce | Howe | WA | |
| 214 | Gary | Denton | CA | We do not take up this much room on the ferries! |
| 215 | Ronald | Mathiesen | WA | Just a thought, don't the mc's,full dress or scooter, get parked in places on each ferry where they DO NOT park a car. WSF has painted slots for cars; not mc's. If WSF did have actul painted parking on their ferries for mc's, a fair fare increase would be understandable, but they don't. They put us ALWAYS WHERE THEY CAN'T PUT AN AUTO? My point is they will get the same no. of autos on the boat and fill in the unpainted spots with mc's; thus WSF only benefits by us filling in the unpainted sections of thier ferries. Also, isn't the very front and very back of the ferry an unpainted place where cars ARE NOT PARKED. The fisrt on benefit for us, is a financial BAFFEL-FULL of $$ for WSF; it's because they can make $$$ for an unpainted area of the ferry. Maybe they should be thanking us for parking in anyspot that is empty or unpainted. Isn't this why they put us on FIRST; NO CARS PARK WHERE WE DO!?!?! Yet WSF feels that we need to pay 14% more for parking where WSF IS NOT to park a car!
I'm sure I could say more on this issue, but what of the use of your new venders to warm our cold bones. Cars usually bring in hot coffee and muffins from home at a much cheaper price than the WSF vendor price. The stretch out benches to talk with fellow riders and drink the vendor coffee and eat vendor muffins. My point here is we do kick in more additional $ on these ammenities provided by WSF. I don't think increasing our fare unfairly, 14% compared to 6%, doesn't do much for your character but show greed; because WSF is listening to someone that can't go to the front of the already parked cars like we can; THERE IS NO PAINT FOR THEIR CAR!!
Did WSF, maybe I, just open a pandoras box-why is there no paint in mc areas, but for cars there is paint. SAFETY ISSUES ??
Hope these ?'s/thoughts help our cause.

| 216 | Robert | Everson | WA | An incredible injustice, again singling out motorcyclists for discrimination, If anything the state should be encouraging more motorcyclists! Perhaps lowering fares! |

| 219 | Albert | Larimer | WA | |
| 220 | Gary | Wasserman | OR | I oppose the fare increase. Motorcycles already pay their fair share! |
| 221 | Porter | Trammell | | |
| 222 | Steve | Lagreid | WA | Motorcycles take up less space, consume less fuel and are already acknowledged as such by WSDOT, by being allowed to occupy HOV lanes 24x7.
If you're trying to increase revenue, surcharge by weight or length. |
| 223 | Brian | Miller | WA | To whom concerned,
I think you are unfairly categorizing people who ride motorcycles today placing them into an unfair position. Maybe motorcycle riders should buy large cars, SUV's and trucks to help the economy. Cars -vs- motorcycles: some have gotten bigger and some are smaller. I don't think you can fairly say one gets a larger rate hike while the other gets a smaller hike. My two cycles were made in the early 80's, they are the same size today as when built, they take up no more or less space.
We motorcycle riders living in the Pacific NW don't ride bikes for our health when we ride in the rain and cold, we ride because saves money. All drivers can do the same thing and purchase smaller vehicles, be it a motorcycle or auto. The bottom line; we sacrifice riding in the comforts of the many new SUV's, trucks and cars on the roads today (not to mention tractor trailers who max out the roads), we ride cycles to help our wallets.
Many positives come into mind and yet I see very few motorcycles on the roads, much much less than other countries.
1) Fewer roads need to be built & maintenance saving the taxpayers BIG bucks!
2) The environment is healthier and motorcycles promote a healthier place to live.
3) Fuel consumption goes down as well the dependency on oil.
4) Most motorcycle riders are usually safer drivers.
These are just a few positives which help our community, many more can be mentioned. I truly believe your are proposing an unfair rate hike on the motorcycle rider. I think you should drop the rates on a motorcycle not raise them. Doing this the state would send a message to the populous that smaller is better for states financial dilemma.
I'm bewildered with the states double minded mentality. Less gas usage means less revenue for the states budget. Smaller sized vehicles mean less taxes to go into the states deep money pit. Get your tax revenue from those that destroy the roads; large trucks, regular trucks, SUV's and autos should be the ones who pay for this rate hike.
Please do not penalize the motorcycle riders in Washington for helping reduce the burden on the states economy.
Thank you,
Brian Miller |

| 226 | Teresa | Vineyard | WA | Nothing like penalizing those people that save the state from air polution, save space on the ferry for larger vehicle or more vehicle thus increasing the productivity of the ferry systm. |
| 227 | Dave | Hooker | WA | This is just another case of DISCRIMINATION against motorcycles and their riders. Because we are few in number and have next to no representation in the government the State feels they can TAX us with immunity. This is just plain wrong, why are we being hit with DOUBLE the increase as the huge SUV's, that type of vehicle has grown is size much more then motorcycles have. I would ask those who make these decisions to use COMMON SENSE when doing so but I know it no longer exists. |

| 234 | Rob | Steinle | WA | 1/5-1/4 the size of a car or truck. Whatever. Using that logic, even 4 motorcycles will fit where even 1 small car fits, with 4 riders, which should qualify them for pools, or a decrease, not increase in fares. We can use the HOV lane, so the precedent is set. And while some bikes are large, large bikes have been around for years, and if they are going to play the as big as game, I don't want a "corner", I want my 1/4 of a car space. They don't have their facts straight, and/or just don't have the guts to give a real good reason. Probably the real reason for the increase is because bikes load first and don't wait (irritating people in cars). At least be honest. Typical state government lackeys. Probably appointed by Chrissy... |
