Petition to Video Oconee County Board of Commissioners Meetings

The petition

At present, citizens of Oconee County must attend Board of Commissioners meetings in person if they wish to be informed about those meetings. Media coverage is spotty and inadequate. Minutes of the meetings contain little detail.

Several options exist for video coverage. Athens-Clarke County, for example, provides live coverage on the web and on cable and offers video-on-demand on its web site.

This petition will be used to support a request that will be made to the Board of Commissioners that it take steps immediately to begin video coverage of its meetings.
