Susan EdwardsKeep the oldest School in Edinburgh Alive - The Best Village School in the Cily - Actually just the best School in the City!
Kevan SlaterA very friendly school, wonderful ethos and teaching environment for children. Stop the Council madness - save Victoria Primary School!
Roy AlexanderEdinburgh council are extremely capable of making ill informed and frequent bad decisions on such topics as our transport (half a billion on Trams so far hmmm), planning, and generally most other issues that directly affect the people of Edinburgh who, lets face it pick up the tab for a most of it. We have to make the council aware that they cant get away with yet another incredible thoughtless plan to rationalise schools and nurseries based on a report that is frankly vague, out of date and leaves more questions than answers. This appears to me be a project for the newly elected to gain brownie points with their officials at the cost children’s welfare. We cannot allow this. It’s morally wrong! Save VP!

Jan DobieThis is a fantastic school. It would be devastating for the children, parents , staff and local community if it were to close.
Sue NewlandsMy daughter had her first 4 years of education at Victoria and she really benefited from the small class sizes and community feeling. I would certainly have objected to a small child having to travel longer distances to get to school, especially as Edinburgh transport is appallingly unreliable. With so much new building going on in the area, why on earth would you want to close this school?
John R. SmithLocal schooling is essential for the education of our children, and the success of our communities. Closing schools like Victoria negatively impacts both.

Alison McInnesAn excellent school with excellent teaching staff, small classes and children who all know one other, a real community school. We must keep this school open.

Peter SellarI find it sad to hear that my old school is being closed down the Edinburgh Council firstly destroyed the old village of Newhaven and now the Board of Education add salt to the injury. Hopefully they will have second thoughts on this decision.
Lori WagnerMy Scotish Cousins attend this school and I have only heard excellent reviews- please do not close this school
Ian CroyThis is just wrong
AnonymousI wish to offer my support by signing against the closure of Victoria Primary school.
Heather RobertsonApart from being an excellent school popular with parents Victoria School is a huge asset in helping to maintain a sense of community in Newhaven. Community spirit is something the Council has been keen to encourage so closing Victoria School would completely contradict this policy.
Morag MackenzieSmall class sizes are very important in the early years of education. To close down an excellent school and make the class sizes much bigger elsewhere is just plain stupid.
andrew harrowerfrom what i can see you have a excelent school that attantes above average scores why close this school it's criminal and goes against you own policys, maybe if the council enployed some of there kids to keep track of the finacess they would not have to do these closures to claw back the money.
AnonymousI'm sure this school plays a major role in the Newhaven community and helped out our Church with rooms when it was under redevopement. This was a huge help in keeping the congregation together. Please do not close it down. It means so much to the families who attend.
Eileen Tait
Stephen McMorlandThe area is expanding with hundreds of new houses - there is a clear need for this school to remain.
Rev Grant MaclaughlanI was the chaplain at the school from Feb 1998 to Feb 2006. During this time I saw the tremendous work done by the staff to enable children to achieve all they could. The teachers were clearly committed and the small classes made sure every child knew they mattered. During my time as minister of newhaven church we also had to hold services for 2 years in the school whilst our building was redeveloped. Without this community facility we would have had no where to go. I am also surprised that given the level of house building in the area that the council is not recognising the need to maintain a school in the area. I believe Victoria Primary School should remain open for the benefit of children and the cohesion of the community.

Linda HannahMy family went to this school and it has always been part of the Newhaven community. Be a real shame to see it close.

Stephen RobertsonMy mother (Elizabeth Lyle) and uncle (James Lyle) went to Victoria Primary School in the late 1940s and early 1950s. They both still have a strong link to Newhaven and would hate to see the old school close.
Anonymouswhy close a school that works well!!!!!

Carol MassaThis is lunacy...what on earth do Edinburgh Council think they are doing!! They can spend million upon millon on a tram set up for Edinburgh but cannot keep schools and nurseries going. I would be very interested to know what they plan to do with the 'vacant sites' if these schools etc were closed....nothing to do with money grabbing developes looking for the best areas to make them more money!!!
