Samuel Maldonado | Are there any updates as to what the city will do about this?
Greg Dolan | I am one of the veterans returning to this job after 4 yrs. I attended the council meeting last week. It was good to see so many in support of this cause. It is a slap in the face to the heroes from the city and frankly it is an embarassment to work for a city that only thinks of finacial power rather then taking care of its workers. Thank you for standing behind us.

chao li | sir, i am a NYPD police officer who served in OIF3 with the 1/69th Inf. we lost 24 brave souls, 8 of them we good long friends of mine. During that time, i continued to use my NYPD pay for my rent and my military pay for my supplies and equipment in Iraq. although I did save some money overseas, I am unable to repay the total amount owed, around 40k. we are deploying again in 2009. i cant imagine serving and nearly dying for our country and city is not enough, the city wants our money, please find a way to exempt us.

Michael Gibbs | To our elected officials – the time has come to stop the rhetoric, end the discussion and act immediately on this most pressing of issues. We who have chosen to serve our country in the both National Guard and Reserve willingly accept the hardships and separation from both home and family that military service demands of us. Consistently and repeatedly we place our nation’s interests and national security issues above our own personal desires of career advancement. We ask for nothing in return but this simple request, the eradication of the accrued and future debt. Those that answered President George Bush’s “Call to Arms” during the days following September 11th, 2001 are owed this much, at the very least. Over the last one hundred and fifty years, the City of New York has always supported those employees that volunteered for national service and this time honored tradition must continue well into the twenty first century. Our city has experienced an unprecedented period of economic growth resulting in banner fiscal gains and now is the time to reward those very few who serve. In closing, I along with hundreds of others are sacrificing for our families, friends and fellow New Yorkers; will you do the same……..for us?
DEAN ROBERTS | Please contact me with any information on how to stop the careless and criminal actions of NYC, to include paying of legal fees to get a court injunction against the city. Thank You!
Caroline Chambre | This is a poor way to thank our veterans for their sacrifice and service. The City needs to rethink this very poor policy decision which is an affront to those who have dedicated themselves to public service.

Anonymous | I'm an Infantry LRS Sergeant and NYPD, I'm 23, with 5 years active and 4 combat tours/2 yrs in Afghanistan and Iraq, the men who make these decisions have zero concept of anything honorable and are the MOST disgusting aspect of society, I have more respect for every perp in NYC than I do for it's mayor.
chao li | A large number in the thousands of city employees are impacted by this hard ship. most people think the money was saved to return it back to the city. what they dont think is that the money was spent on family care to stabilize their home and children.
