| 2 | H. J. | Larsen | | CA | Surveys about the proposed Olympics show 62 percent support amongst
Vancouver and Whistler residents and 80 percent support amongst
Canadians. Since modern day Olympics is all about money in the form of
increased spending for facilities and infrastructure, increased business
catering to the Olympics, increased business serving the Olympic patrons
and increased longer term tourism flowing from the exposure provided,
why would Canadians, who would have to help to pay for the games but
would benefit to a much lesser extent than the 'locals' support them to
a significantly greater extent than those same 'locals'?
In theVancouver Sun newspaper's Editorial Page piece, they state that it is inappropriate to
have a referendum because not enough is yet known about the specifics of
the Vancouver/Whistler proposal while, later on in the same piece, they
write that a referendum is unnecessary because numerous surveys have
already been done demonstrating support. If there isn't enough public
information to hold a referendum, exactly on what were those people
surveyed basing their support?
The Olympic Games have become a closely controlled, corrupt, undemocratic organization out to maximize their "franchise" fees
producing a 'spectacle' which includes collusion amongst judges and multi-millionaire professional
athletes taking the rightful place of amateurs. |
| 3 | Mark | Hansel | | CA | It's just a scam, and the people of BC will end up paying for it with their tax dollars, while Campbell and his freinds continal to bring this province down on it's knee's..... |

| 6 | Jonathan | Parminter | | CA | The Olympics are overratted. We need to spend money on health care and our education system, not sporting events. |

| 11 | Dwayne | Pedersen | | CA | more pressing issues are being ignored by the Provincial Government.
Our current Government is causing too many people and communities avoidable hardship.
They arew also failing miserably to bring business and investment into this Province. They are exporting our jobs. and giving away our resources |

How can we write to the IOC against? |
| 28 | Dave | Wall | | UK | Emigrating to Vancouver in May. Believe that this would give Vancouver the opportunity to really shine. It will be good for the area financially, but will also give Canadians the opportunity to show what they can do in sport, and maybe focus the governments mind on how it treats sport in Canada. |

| 45 | Heather | Clifford Kawaguchi | | CA | I truly believe this opportunity, which is what it is, should not be taken lightly...We really need the hope for a future in B.C. |
| 46 | John | Eddy | | CA | We need something to stimulate our economy and this Olympic bid is perfect. We won't be able to do it by sitting back and talking about how bad our financial situation is. Not only will this Olympic Bid bring Canadians together, but it makes long term financial sense. |
| 47 | Roger | Farr | | CA | |
| 48 | Gen | Tardif | | CA | |
| 49 | Henry | Ma | | CA | I support the bid because I am a Vancouverian. It will being jobs and money to the city. It creates jobs, tourist, and money in the city. It will be a party, so let it be! |
| 50 | Trevor | Westelund | | | It is disgusting how our government thinks that it can STEAL money from the pockets of its people just to finesse their own private interests. Anyone who supports our already excessively expensive bid- is anti-democracy!
I think that someone in the media should release the actual numbers spent on this ridiculous idea. I am not anti-Olympics; I am against a government who believes that they are responsible to no one.
