Savanna Ritenour | I just got a ticket today for failing to stop completely at a stop sign, I did not floor it through the intersection, but merely yielded. Because of my 2 second lapse in judgement, I am now in danger of losing my home because of the teetering housing market. So Virginia, the fine that I am going to have to pay, for my first offense since I was 17 years old, may cause me to lose my home and all that I have worked hard to achieve. It is a snowball effect. If you can't see that then indeed the snow is in your face.

Cee | i feel that this fee is a total violation of our rights as citizens...my issue is that it only applies to those who reside in VA and ALREADY pay outlandish taxes...im looking at relocating because of it...
Yvonne Johnson | I was ordered to do three months of VASAP(which i pay for), pay for my court appointed attorney, lost my insurance and pay higher rates at a new company, pay for a new license, and now over $3,000 for the Civil Remedial Fee. All for a first offense DUI.
Kevin Hill | The civil remedial fees are unlawful.

Peter Logue | very unfair to VA residents

Anonymous | Unfair, unlawful. It's wrong to target citizens of only one state, even though it's a Commonwealth. There's something wrong with the politics of this bill. Should not have even been considered. Violates the whole idea of being a Commonwealth. Should put a $35,000 cap on salary of all political offices. Legislators need to look at their own greed, thats why this bill came to pass. Need to have Federal Investigators look into back ground of Virginias' Legislators, bet they would find alot of corruption like they did in Loudon County, VA.

Gary Cox | This is nothing but another tax for roads. If you are going to tax people for road usage, then tax everybody equally....not single out individuals without the Judge being able to take EVERYTHING into consideration case by case..
Anonymous | get rid of them
Anonymous | Want the fees repleased
chad rudolph | These fees are ridiculous and will only make life harder for the average citizen. Whoever came up with the idea should be tarred and feathered.

END THIS STUPID AND UNFAIR LAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Anonymous | I agree that these outrageous and abusive fines not only inhibit an individuals economic stability, but the bigger picture is that the State of Virginia once again abuses its power and passes this bill in the first place. If you do the crime, the punishment should fit the crime.
Fiorino dicenso | Not fair to any driver to pay such a high price for a simple traffic ticket.
shannon callahan |
Lisa Carnahan | These fees are ridiculous and not equitable with the severity of the offenses. They also discriminate against Virginia residents by providing tourists and other people who travel our roads to pay a "normal" fee instead of these exorbitant fees. If VA was going to raise the fees, the cost should have been shared with tourists and business travelers from other states. It's called Business 101 and Non-Discrimination 101. Even then, $3,000 is ridiculous for a speeding ticket.
Trevor Merton | Highly unconstituional and impeding our 5th and 14th amendments. Why have these politicians totally forgot about our constitutional rights?

Anonymous | I find these fees, as a college student to be extreme in every way. Having to work to pay for school in the summer is hard enough. Paying this much for a ticket is disgusting.
Rob McMurtry | If you had not mis-appropriated transportation funds in the first place, you would not feel the need to enact illegal provisions to burden the citizens of Virginia.
