| 1 | Jenna | This is why there was a Boston Tea Party! |
| 2 | Rev. Sherry | How evil is this? How rich are these lawmakers to have the impudence to hurt the working class citizens of Virginia this way?
The financial ramifications upon individuals will be devasting to so many. The "Fee" is only the beginning of picking the pockets of Virginia drivers, the insurance companies will be next in line to add their rate hikes to the financial burden, then credit ratings are affected and a mryiad of financial issues become intangled in this web.
These CRF's could cause financial devastation and ruin.
Is that what Virginia stands for? |
| 3 | Desiree Burnett | This is a ridiculous amount of money, and is completely unfair to the hardworking people of our state. |

| 5 | Connie Jones | OUTRAGEOUS! |
| 6 | Richard Smith | I agree, these fees are ridiculous and ludicris. Virginia lawmakers have gone too far. |

| 8 | Erin A Robichaud | |
| 9 | Andrea Andrejco | A simple mistake could cost you all your income. I can't afford to buy a house in this area, and I guess they don't want me living here either. |
| 10 | Richard W. Stoops Jr. | |
| 11 | Anita M. Freeman | Repeal immediately! |
| 12 | Anonymous | I say NO to Richmond!
Tell our local state representatives in Richmond that their "Civil Remedial Fees" that are to take effect on 07/01/2007 are an onerous and outrageous burden on the citizens of Virginia.
The exorbitant fees can place catastrophic financial burdens on hardworking
citizens and their families.
There is no legal basis for these fees to be implemented, and is just another
way of unfairly taxing the citizens of Virginia, since these new "CRF's" will
only be applied to Virginia drivers and not to drivers convicted of
traffic violations from other states.
These new CRF's are to be implemented 07/01/2007. This legislation
needs to be repealed before it is even enacted.

TELL RICHMOND "NO"! |

| 18 | Anonymous | I have never even been stopped by the police in my 30 years of driving, but these fees are an outrageous attempt to raise money for God knows what reason. Many people are living on the financial edge to begin with and this could drive them over, and for what? |

| 27 | Melissa R. Blow | I am appalled that this is going to happen and had a friend not passed this to me I wouldn't have even known about it. This is truly outrageous - outrageous - outrageous!!!!!
You can be assured that I will make sure that everyone who's in my address book (and lives in VA) will be alerted about this.
This is a BIG incentive to move out of VA and move to Maryland! |
| 28 | Cindy Linn | I think that Richmond needs a serious House cleaning!!! Then the Senate! Then the Governors mansion!
VA Voters - let's tell the State of Virignia - ENOUGH IS ENOUGH - and this is TOO MUCH! |

| 37 | Anonymous | This is outrageous! Even if one get a ticket only once in their life it is no reason to have to pay these fees. What about those who need their car in order to work and stay off welfare? Think ahead Virginia.
If you promised not to raise taxes then don't disguise it in CRF's. |
| 38 | Laura Giles | |
| 39 | Nikki DeVita | This is outrageous! It's bad enough the fines are already heavy, many people will not be able to afford this with their low paying jobs which are plentiful in VA along with gas prices and cost of living. |
| 40 | Josh | This is dumb. |
| 41 | Rev. Trudy Maleski | This is frightening as families could go without meals or mortgage payments because of a simple traffic mistake that we all have made. Where does this money go when it is generated and who is held accountable for it? This saddens me to think Virginia would place a such a hardship on its people. Please reconsider. |
| 42 | Deborah M. Bischler | |
| 43 | Claudia H. Dulmage | This is absolutely taxation without representation! So, the personal property tax fiasco has now come home to roost and the thanks we get for turning the Republicans out of office is THIS? OUTRAGEOUS! -- these unconscionable and no doubt illegal fees will hopefully be challenged and defeated in court ASAP. |
| 44 | Anonymous | Please, I urge you not to sign into law this ridiculous
piece of legislature adding Civil Remedial Fees to simple tickets for the residents of VA. This is a true tax burden and seems very unfair. |
| 45 | Liz Dorneman | |
| 46 | Michele Porzel | this is outrageous to charge Viriginia drivers with these fees. what are our poor residents going to do? Are you going to send them to jail because they don't have $1000 for not having "fully inflated tires"? Please repeal this law |
| 47 | Harjot Singh | |
| 48 | Anonymous | Come on. I,veheard of the back door, but this is ridiculous!! |
| 49 | George Garcia | This is the most outrageous thing I have ever heard, it is in par with the ridiculous car tax, there are many other ways of colleting funds without causing great burden to our citizens, this is certainly not the answer and I greatly oppose this law. |
| 50 | Mike Smith | I am one of these "financially weak" Virginia citizens. I've lived, worked, and gone to school in Virginia my entire life, yet my total wages last year were less than $25,000. This was barely even enough to put food on my table, let alone pay for anything else. I can't imagine what I would do if I were ever hit with one of these fines, but the thought "declare bankruptcy" seems to come to mind. There's not even any mention of the fines being put to good purpose, such as improved roads or schools, and I am shocked to hear that such a horrible thing [as these fines] would even be considered by lawmakers. Please don't do it!! |
