Ralph WithersOne of the treasures of the area. If the Belediere has any sense at all, it will not give any permissions for ANY kind of factory.
Pete and Rosie SimpsonWe agree with all the statements made in the petition about the detriment to the natural beauty of the Uzumlu valley, and to residents well being in Incirkoy and Uzumlu We own a villa in Uzumlu, and hope to live there permananently. The cement factory would certainly make it difficult for us to recommend the area to other potential buyers
Denise AtkinsTurkey is a beautiful country and should be appreciated, Turkey is large enough to accommodation factories of this sort far away from farm land, residental areas, Turkey should be going forward and thinking about the environment and should not be lead by companies wishing to make a quick profit and other people expense.

BlythRoelofs-StorieAllowing this factory to be built would be very detrimental to the local economy which is heavily reliant on tourism and subsistence farming both of which would be damaged by the proposed work.

Emra SayilirUzumlu may end up worse off economically because such a production of cement will drive away the foreigners who contribute to the local economy.

Alan & Carole ThompsonThis is an outrage and should be stopped at all costs. Uzumlu and the surrounding area is one of outstanding natural beauty and should not come under threat from big business fortune seekers. The livelihood of the local people is at stake here, not to mention their long term health. "STOP THIS HAPPENING"

laura brandWe are looking at property in Uzumlu but are put off by the impending decision on the cement factory. I believe others too will be put off this area because of this proposed 'blot on the landscape'. To allow this cement factory to go ahead will indeed be a nail in the coffin for tourism in this area.
Chris AllenThe natural beauty of Uzumlu is far greater than any monetary gain that could be derived from a cement factory. The true value of this valley can only be experienced by being there and absorbing the scale and atmosphere of this unique plateau. An experience that may never be witnessed by our descendants if this factory were allowed to proceed

AnonymousDear Sir, I am having a villa built in Uzumlu, I was told that when I bought the villa that this new cement factory would not effect where I will live, ie the air. Do you not think there is enough pollution in the world with out building this cement factory in one of the cleanest environments in the world. This sort of thing, ie the builing of the factory will not be good for the Turkish well being. At present Turkey is well sort after, it has a great reputation for its friendly people ,and its clean environment. Dont lets spoil or pollute the village of Uzumlu which has retained its Turkish beauty. As you state Turkey has attracted lots of investment from abroad and is growing fast, surely the government would not want to spoil this. We do not want Turkey to get like Spain , heaven forbid. Kind Regards, Colin Castle. From England.
RichardYou don't need anymore cement period. Find a more suitable place to build the plant if you feel you must. If it is built in this area it will remove a large part of the foriegn investment that will enrich the area without ruining it. USE SOME COMMON SENSE AND THINK...

BanuWe are looking for cement factories for buying 600.000 Mt cement.
Jeanette and Frank KearneyAnything we can to support you in the efforts of keeping his area as beautifu as it is now will be forthcoming
Dave MoorePlease do not destroy the wonderful, tranquil area of Uzumulu.
Neil MahonWe have just purchased a small cottage just outside of Uzumlu which we intend to retire to in about 6 years. We also have owned a plot of land in Uzumlu for 4 years. We would hate to see this beautiful area despoiled by a cement factory
john priorwe have a villa close to the Denzili road. We love Uzumulu and our villa. How could the government the destruction of such a beautiful area??
Mr & Mrs R W FayersWe purchased a property in Uzumlu solely because of its location, we were looking for a place that was clean and peaceful and in a Turkish environement. We love Uzumlu and its people who will also suffer greatly as it surely must effect their living, health and quality of life , it is our dream to semi retire there, we now consider that this will not be possible due to the health hazard and destruction of such a beautiful area because of this destructive, toxic and ugly cement factory.
Derek MaughanTurkish Genocide to construct a cement factory in a area of such beauty.
Chris AllenI have made my moral pitch, entry 183 but thought some facts and figures may be of interest. The raw materials for cement are limestone and shale and unfortunately the Taurus mountains at Incirkoy consist almost entirely of these materials. So we can see why the location is attractive to cement makers. A fact that is not so well known is that the cement making process is the most damaging to the environment. It is responsible for 5% of the worlds total greenhouse gases, far in excess of that produced by the airline industry. For every 1,000Kg of cement, 900Kg of CO2 is released into the atmosphere, a fact we should remember each time we pick up a bag of cement at the local DIY store. Why does the Airline business get so much bad press and the Cement Industry get off scott free? We are made to feel guilty in taking a plane trip once a year to visit the beautiful village of Uzumlu whereas the perpetrators of the great concrete monstrosities that are spoiling our environment are admired for their achievements. I suggest there is an imbalance in public perception
Shelley & Steve RitsonWe are amazed that in an area that is so known to the world for its outstanding beauty and has drawn in millions of tourists and investors (like us) to the area over the years, would allow the go-ahead for planning permission of a Cement Factory in the Mulga area. This WILL prove in the long term to be detrimental to the whole area, such as public health (hence more health costs), environment (pollution to the surrounding land and the habitation of wildlife), tourism and investment (this WILL cause a huge decline as tourist operators are ALREADY aware of the proposed Cement Factory and it will not be long before it is spread over the tabloids). The errection of the Factory may provide people with a few jobs, but if this building does go ahead, the Mulga area will loose a lot more in the long term this we are sure will not be wanted after the time and effort it has taken the business people of Turkey to promote such a beautiful area.
