The petition
In January 2007 Mr Brian York and Ross River, the landlords of the ground at Cambridge City FC, Milton Road, stated publicly that they would not be renewing the lease at the end of this football season. City started out in 1908 and we are currently in our 99th year, so next season would be our Centenary year at Milton Road. This is something we all want to celebrate and in style, but currently, it doesn't look likely.
The club, if locked out in May, may have to relocate to a ground outside of Cambridge and even drop down a level or two. Do we want this to happen to our famous and well respected club in our 100th year ? NO I say !!!
Think how sad it wil be for all the girls and womens teams to lose their identity at City, how sad it will be for all the youngsters who come to watch City and to take part in the penalty shoot outs we organise; and how cruel it will be that our work with local charities will suffer.
What is the point of our landlord closing us down and having the ground standing empty until such time as it gets re-sold or City regain possession? We might as well be allowed to negotiate a deal which keeps us at OUR HOME in our 100th year at least.
