Melissa Landfield | The uncommon app was an important part of why I came here, we ARE uncommon and want to remain so.
John Dwyer |
Timothy Tuff | There are plenty of would-be Chicago students, who have never heard of the place, or any of its reputations. I think finding them would be more valuable than changing what makes us work.

Samsher Gill | how old is the uncommon application? i think it is important that we verify that before we call it one of the u of c's "greatest traditions." of course, whether it is a tradition or not, i feel it is an indispensable part of the u of c admissions process.

Omar Zoheri | If an applicant can't take the time or effort to fill out Chicago's application, let them go to Northwestern - Chicago's doesn't need him.
Lia Horton | It would be tragic to lose the U of C's famous essay questions.

| 928 | Anonymous | I don't think Chicago should have the Common Application. Without the Uncommon Application, UChicago is just another school that anybody can apply to. The Uncommon Application actually attracts student that want to attend UChicago so badly that they take the time to fill out a whole new application and answer the silly essay questions.
Keep the uncommon application! |

Barb Fiedler | If a prospie can't take the extra time to fill out a truly special application, then he doesn't belong here in the first place.

vanessa smith | I think it would be horrible and sad to the uncommon application go. I have to say that when filling out the uchicago application the uniquness of it, was one of the reasons i began to look at the u of c seriously as a school i would like to go to. the uc community likes to pride itself on being unique and different and getting rid of the uncommon application would go against the type of pride the u of c has for itsef and its students.

Anonymous | The Uncommon Application was my introduction to the spirit and flavor of the U of C. I doubt i would have applied to the university had it not been for the "how do you feel about wednesdays?" question that caught my attention during the ridiculous process of applying to college. It was a much needed boost, improving my confidence in the possibility that i could actually make the right choice in terms of deciding on an institution that has the ability to affect so much of my future.

Yotam Schachter | The questions on the application were one of the reasons I bothered filling it out. I might not have come here if we used the common app.
Cameron Keitel |
Jacqueline Collins | THe uncommon app. brought with it the character of the school. It was part of my ultimate decision to turn down schools of the same caliber in favor of U of C!

Benjamin Jervis |
Michael Calderbank | There's simply no other reason I considered this university
Harold Liss | The Uncommon was one of the major attractions of UofC to me. The boldness of the application was a major part in making me want to come here - and I've loved it. I don't know if I would have applied had UofC used the Common - and I also don't think the school will deserve donations from its alumni if it tries to conform to the idea of a Harvard, Northwestern or Brown. If I were the UofC, I wouldn't want a student who wasn't a good fit, and a student who would fill out the Common, but not the Uncommon, would not be a good fit. The Uncommon needs to be kept.

Samantha Zwiebel | Don't make the switch so that more students apply and our selectivity will reflect better on our standards and therefore our ranking. The "self-selecting" quality of the students here drew me to the school in the first place, along with the Uncommon Application. There is no other school like us--keep it that way!
