| 281 | Denise Zelenak | As a coach of a division I field hockey program. I find the dropping of hockey or any sport a horrible injustice. Our society is based on sports from preschool to professionals. We take pride in watching and representing. And even if this is not a money making sport. It's importance to the people that compete their entire youth is immesurable. Taking away an opportunity for an athlete to compete in the sport they excel at, as well as, being able to represent your institution in a sport that has so much history and strength in the northeast is a detriment to your university. The program at URI has become stronger in the last few years, and has attracked some good players, every recruiting event that you have someone represent, is advertisement for you and shows pride for your institution. As for the women you displace, these women are ambassadors for your athletic department and university. And this is a time that institutions should be looking to expand or enhance the sports they have not dropping them. I am saddend by this happening and hope that there is some way to stop the dropping of this great sport at URI |

| 292 | Michelle Hess | This is a shame!! Unacceptable!! |
