Karin Bendick | This happened to the field hockey program at UMBC in 2006....funding cuts....Now...oh gee....a new multi million dollar 'sports complex' at the same campus--plasma screen tv's included??? What is URI really up to here??? Field Hockey is an ever growing sport in the north east and should be supported!!

Emily Grandmont | I 100% support Field Hockey at URI. I played at Bryant College and I strongly believe it helped me become the successful woman I am today. In addition, my teammates are not only still my friends today, but more my sisters because of this experience we shared during Undergraduate Studies.
Amy Harrison | As a college field hockey player for the university of maine, I can attest that being able to play college sports was the experience of a lifetime. The skills learned, being part of the team translate into life. Leadership, competitiveness, pursuveerance, follow women into their careers and make them better people. It would be a real shame if the University were to cut the team.

Bernardo Lopes | keep the program!!!
Lauren Scopaz | I cannot adequately stress the importance of having athletic (or other extra curricular programs for that matter) for college students. I was a division I field hockey player in college and in some ways learned more on the field/on the team than in many of my classes. Teamwork, leadership, commitment, and other skills learned while playing a sport like field hockey are invaluable to graduating students who will truly make a difference in the world.

Lotte Hen | Field hockey is an amazing sport and a sport that extremely beneficial to women in America. It is competitive while also allowing girls to become part of a team. It is the most team oriented sport in America. It needs to be kept.

Annie Kane | Thanks for whoever started this, it really means a lot to me and the girls on the team who got cut...good luck with the rest of your season and be grateful that you guys are not in the situation we are in.
Libby Segal | I'm with Annie. Thanks so much for all the support. We really do appreciate it more than you will ever know. Don't let them take away from any of you what has been taken from us.

Chrisse Kazmierski | As a member of the URI field hockey team, and a senior I really appreciate everyone's support with this petition. Hopefully URI will realize this is the wrong decision, and reinstate our program.
Kaitlyn Barnes | This team should not be cut. It is unfair to all of those girls that have put their soul into field hockey. We scrimmage URI every pre-season and they have been a strong team, and were beginning to improve with the new coaching staff. It would be a shame to lose this program.
