| 130 | Stephanie Reichard | I have a daughter that played field hockey in college and is now an assistant coach at a D1 university.
I know how much time, energy and passion these athletes put into their sport. If someone told them their sport was going to be cancelled, it would be devastating. First of all, the university "invited" these athletes into their community thru scholarship monies and academics. These athletes believed in them....selected them over other universities they were considering and helped to build the future of their programs through recruitment, action and word....too bad these decisions have to be made to a group of student/athletes that "gave" their all. |

The game of field hockey is an international game, and can be a recruiter for the University for foreign players. This would be a great asset to the field hockey team and the University. I oppose any motion to cut URI's field hockey team. |

I urge the powers that be to reconsider their decision to discontinue the following teams at the University of Rhode Island: men's swim team, men's tennis team, the gymnastics teams and the field hockey team. |
