555 Virginia SuttonAs a division I field hockey head coach I ask for you to please keep the Field Hockey program at URI. As we coaches in the field hockey world from club, high school, college and beyond continue to grow the sport of field hockey acrioss the US this only hurts us. Field Hockey is an amzing sport and empowers many young women today. Cutting this women's program does not help us bring up young women to become strong, confident, and great leaders which I can image is one thing URI wants the women who graduate from there to become.

599 Peter JonesThis weekend I had the pleasure of umpiring at the Longstreth Cup, in which ten D1 teams including Rhode Island participated. It may also have seen the last inter-collegiate competition for the University of Rhode Island team. The team and coaches showed up to honor their commitments and competed with class. Their final games included a victory over Bryant and a tie with Lafayette that ended Lafayette’s chances of catching Quinnipiac for the overall trophy. As the Rhode Island team walked off the field after their last game, they were applauded by all the other teams and spectators. There are some last minute efforts underway to try to salvage the program and the field hockey community wishes the best for this team.
