Note: If you unclear regarding statements made in this Declaration addressing "war powers," please read our related backgrounder.   Most Americans do not realize that the current Iraq invasion was a violation of US Federal Law, as well as a violation of international treaty obligations.  

This petition is meant to empower a movement aimed at preventing additional "Pre-emptive wars" by the United States, launched against Iran or any other nation, and to help lead to the permanent abolition of war as a means of settling disputes between nations.

that the current administration of the United States has violated our ratification of the UN Charter and US Federal Law (US Constitution, Article VI) by proclaiming an unprecedented "right," not recognized in law, to pre-emptively attack any nation claimed by the Executive branch to constitute a threat, without that threat meeting any reasonable self-defense standards to justify armed "pre-emptive" response;

that the bypassing of such principles - with regard to the disastrous invasion of Iraq, in particular - has caused untold human suffering, the death of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians and thousands of American military personnel, the tragic displacement of several million Iraqi refugees, alongside the senseless drain of vast human and material resources needed for constructive purposes in our world;

to witness the same kinds of aggressive saber-rattling, exaggerated or falsified "threat evidence," and manifested strong desires for new warfare on the part of the Executive branch of our government, with respect to Iran; threatening to take our world further into needless suffering, while building great deficits of goodwill, damages and debts to darken the horizon of succeeding generations;

I.    Demand that our current US administration immediately cease all movement toward further "pre-emptive warfare"; II.    Urge our national political leaders to redirect our national treasure - now being wasted upon speculative wars and drained via war-profiteering and corruption - toward humane and constructive use in our world, including humanitarian needs both at home and abroad; III.   Call upon the Attorney General of our nation and the magistrates of the International Criminal Court to proceed immediately with the conviction of any persons that have violated international war crimes statutes, to assist our society and the larger world in re-establishing principles of civilized and lawful conduct. III.   We, the Undersigned, demand an end to all unjust and illegal behavior being committed "In Our Name" and - as Natural Sovereigns, those by whose power and concensus our government exists - demand the creation of a just and humane world in its place; the creation of a world without war, made possible by the creation of true social, political and economic justice, both at home and abroad.

Note: This Petition has been designed to function as a statement, by American citizens, to our own government.  Citizens of other nations are also welcome to sign, but should indicate their country of citizenship and will be considered Endorsers, versus Signatories.  This petition will be sent to key political and media leaders once 3,000 signatures are collected, and recirculated periodically, thereafter.  Our plan for petition circulation may be accessed here.
