The petition

The Marine Connection is calling on the UK government to introduce legislation prohibiting the keeping of dolphins, whales and porpoises (cetaceans) in captivity. Working in association with CAPS (Captive Animals Protection Society) we feel that now is the time to call for a complete ban on the importation and display of cetaceans in the UK. Although the last UK facility holding captive dolphins closed in 1993, there is no legislation currently in place to stop importation or display. Having supported colleagues in other countries worldwide, including Chile and Mexico to obtain import bans into their countries, the Marine Connection urges the UK government to follow their example, especially as the UK has remained free of these facilities for over a decade. Please help keep the UK free of facilities holding captive dolphins and whales by signing our petition which will be submitted to Ben Bradshaw, Parliamentary Secretary (DEFRA) Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs. Thank You.
