With the Athens Rape Crisis center almost closing last year, and the number of reported rapes on campus every year (very few going on to an arrest/conviction) the women's center is needed more than ever. My only suggestion would be that it be a CRISIS center, since men get harrassed and raped too. |

| 1017 | Willice Mullins | This problem is just a symptom of the lack of transparency that plagues all communications between the Univ. Administration and the students. |

| 1037 | Anonymous | I was involved in a sexual harassment case last Spring. The professor had been making advances towards me for over a year. I confronted him about it and told him it was inappropriate and causing me to have panic attacks at work. He said he would stop. Four months later he was at it again. The professor was investigated, but there was no witnesses to the behavior he exhibited towards me (he would always close his office door or wait until everyone else had gone home before making comments, or trying to make a physical advance towards me). He was, however, found to have had sexual relations with a graduate student in the past, and his only punishment after my accusation was to go to a sexual harassment class. He didn't end up really having to go. I had to change labs in the middle of graduate school and start over on a new thesis. I'll finish on time, but I've had to work over 12 hours a day, including weekends, to catch up. Is this fair? |
