WHEREAS, The American people cannot rely on the "media/press" to deliver unfiltered "news" any more.(Media being Internet, Press, Radio and TV "news" resources.)
WHEREAS, certain well documented media sources believe that their real purpose is to influence opinions and beliefs of the general populace by changing the "news" to deliver what they believe is the real story irregardless of the facts.
WHEREAS, media sources that bias/distort content of "news" believe they are exempt from responsibility because of the Bill of Rights - Amendment I. However, this amendment does NOT state that "false" or "distorted" reporting is exempt from congressional control.
WHEREAS, we believe that no "news" source should be able to advance any political, social or religious agenda without explicit declaration of such intent.
THEREFORE, the People of the United States call upon their Congress to enact legislation that makes networks and reporters accountable for misleading the American people. All "news" that is presented shall include a statement similar to the following "This account is not commentary and has not been edited or constructed to omit or distort any implications of the content." Commentary or Editorial content shall be so identified and thus will not be subject to any restriction of bias or editing.
We, The People, call upon our elected representatives to establish a healthy penalty, and a quick means to enforce it, for those who practice anything less than truthful reporting.
