Tommy's Law

We, the undersigned, call upon the UK Government to do everything in its power to:

STOP THE SENSELESS MURDERS

STOP THE CULTURE OF CARRYING KNIVES

TommyBy undertaking the following actions:

  1. CLEARER SENTENCING
    The sentence delivered to offenders should be clear.
    Life should mean life; 10 years should mean a minimum of 10 years.
  2. LONGER SENTENCES FOR POSSESSION
    Knives can be just as lethal as guns but easier to get hold of.
    The minimum & maximum sentencing for possession of a knife should be the same as possession of a gun.
  3. POSSESSION PRIOR TO ATTACK = PREMEDITATION
    If the perpetrator of a serious or fatal wounding was in possession of the weapon prior to the attack (i.e. did not grab the weapon at the crime scene) this shows intent. Why carry a knife if you are not going to use it? People who carry knives onto the streets of Britain & use them should be guilty of premeditated attacks even if they did not know the victim of the crime. They should, therefore, suffer longer custodial sentences.
  4. NATIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAM IN SCHOOLS
    Too many young people walk the streets in possession of knives. We believe the government should introduce a nationwide schools program to send a clear message of the horrors of knife crime.
  5. ACTIVITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
    We call on the government to reverse the erosion of activities for young people in the UK. We ask them to bring back the youth clubs & events for young people. We need to occupy the minds of young people & give them a safe environment in which to flourish.

I am am adament that my focus will be to change the law. I ask for your help. I am 32 and have a long life ahead to fight the system. We didn't deserve this and I will not allow anything to stop my goal. And that is to convict those who carry knifes, even if they do not do any harm with them. 795 alexjonsoni am another young person who has been affected by this plague of teenage killings.my friend,martin dinnegan,was stabbed to death at the young age of just 14 on june 26th 2007.He was 3 years younger than me,but he was like a younger brother to me.he was killed for an alleged dirty look,his killers are now saying he had stabbed them first,yet no knife was found on martin,that is just a lie.he was a loyal friend,a funny young man,and didnt take anything too seriously. he was taken by 4 scumbags who had nothing better to do than pick on a young boy!! im only 18 and i am determined to try and change the law so that anybody convicted of murder,spends the rest if their life in prison or a minimum of 30 years!along with all the other young men killed for nothing,martin will never be able to get marriedhave kids and lead a normal law obiding life so why should their killers be allowed to do so? 796 karengriggsmy father almost died due to a knife attack. a bit different as he was asleep in his hotel room and the man concerned was not a teenager, but a grown man on military buisiness who had too much to drink and blamned the situation on, a, serving abroad in the war and, b, a breakdown of his marriage.however the situation was the same as far as violence is concerned. he stwbbed my fathr 13 times. my father alsmost lost his life and the guy got of scott free saying he could not rember due to temporary insanity. knives are so easy to get hold of. every house has them. it takes more force and meaning to stab somebody a number of times than it does to pull a trigger. pulling a trigger is a one of action. to stab a person a number of times takes effort and meaning. this has to stop now before it is to late.
