We, the undersigned, call upon the UK Government to do everything in its power to:

By undertaking the following actions:

1. CLEARER SENTENCING
   The sentence delivered to offenders should be clear.
   Life should mean life; 10 years should mean a minimum of 10 years.
2. LONGER SENTENCES FOR POSSESSION
   Knives can be just as lethal as guns but easier to get hold of.
   The minimum & maximum sentencing for possession of a knife should be the same as possession of a gun.
3. POSSESSION PRIOR TO ATTACK = PREMEDITATION
   If the perpetrator of a serious or fatal wounding was in possession of the weapon prior to the attack (i.e. did not grab the weapon at the crime scene) this shows intent. Why carry a knife if you are not going to use it? People who carry knives onto the streets of Britain & use them should be guilty of premeditated attacks even if they did not know the victim of the crime. They should, therefore, suffer longer custodial sentences.
4. NATIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAM IN SCHOOLS
   Too many young people walk the streets in possession of knives. We believe the government should introduce a nationwide schools program to send a clear message of the horrors of knife crime.
5. ACTIVITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
   We call on the government to reverse the erosion of activities for young people in the UK. We ask them to bring back the youth clubs & events for young people. We need to occupy the minds of young people & give them a safe environment in which to flourish.
