| 3352 | Thomas Molyneux | We are free to do exactly as we're told! Free country my arse. |
| 3353 | Allan George | I have no issue with “passive smoking” whatsoever, although I appreciate the fact that I can now eat in a café / restaurant free from cigarette debris, which I think is revolting. However, banning smoking in ALL pubs, and the prohibition of wholly enclosed smoking shelters OUTSIDE is fascism. The government must amend the legislation without delay. |
| 3354 | Charles Bushby | This bad law shows the contempt that the British Government has for ordinary people. |
| 3355 | R greenwood | Act now or true freedom is doomed. The sod you jack i'm alright attitude of the nonsmoking majority will help lead to thier downfall also. |
| 3356 | Waibun Lee | It should be freedom off choice like it used to be, it should be up to the establishment if they want their place to be non smoking or not. This is another case of the nanny state. |
| 3357 | George | Sorry state of affairs we have let ourselves be pushed into, especially when you consider this is a legal product that is under fire. Pardon the pun!! Those of us living in the States best take note and be ready to fight or our rules will become as draconian as you Brits! Now is not the time for apathy!! |

| 3359 | Bettina Howson | |
| 3360 | Marie Mckeown | I agree that not everyone wants to inhale my smoke, but save the ban for gastro-pubs and areas where childred are likely to be. Give me back my freedom of choice! |
| 3361 | Anonymous | This ban is making me loose 2 business's and 7 years of work, somthing must be done |
| 3362 | adam bagnall | |
| 3363 | Ian Crofts | This unjust and spiteful legislation should be amended as you describe. Anyone who doesn't want to breathe in second hand smoke should not have to - regardless of whether it affects their health or not. |
| 3364 | lyndon lennon | i have recently returned from holland, a country where it's citizens are still treated like adults and are allowed to make their own informed decisions. britain used to be a free liberal country but is now run by a government deaf to the voice of its people. if we all give up smoking then where will mr brown turn to, torecoup the lost revenue from tobacco? don't think it will stop here. who will be targeted next by the nanny state? |
| 3365 | K Blair | smoker |
| 3366 | Joshua Darbyshire | |
| 3367 | Glen Smith | |
| 3368 | Chris Brown | The smoking ban is one of the most divisive and unpopular pieces of legislation in the 21st century. Not only that, it was based on very dodgy "science" about the 'risks' of second-hand smoke. In addition, it represents the thin end of the wedge...if they've got away with banning smoking in pubs - then what will they get away with banning next |
| 3369 | Daniel Rawsthorne | I the ban is ridiculous. If the government wants anybody to trust them and support them and want more people to vote they need to stop taking away our freedom and our rights! |
| 3370 | Peter Tinley | |
| 3371 | Anonymous | we should have the freedom to choose if we want to smoke we should have the choice not to be dictated to like hitler did with the germans a pub should be able to display a notice advertising the fact that they area smoking pub or not, the streets are getting dirtier through the smoking outside |
| 3372 | Jodi | Democracy:
1.Government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.
2. A state of society characterized by formal equality of rights and privileges.
Dictatorship:
Absolute, imperious, or overbearing power or control. |
| 3373 | Manuel Armario | You know what, i find it worrying that some people are happy to take there children into pubs now that they are smoke free, when alcohol is just as bad if not worse, alcohol related crimes include violence, rape, breach of the peace and takes up an awful lot of police time, not to mention the NHS on a Friday night, i don't know of any incident when someone has gone on a rampage after smoking 20 fags, now don't get me wrong i am not against drinking and i am also not against smoking, its your right as a person to be able to chose. But let me pose a question to all those anti smokers, what if the government in there infinite wisdom banned booze as well, (after all it is bad for you as it is bad for the poor guy getting his head kicked in in a drunken brawl, and thats not even touching the health issues), would you be cheering then? live and let live, thats what i say.
one other point is that nicotine is highly addictive, you cant just stop, heroin addicts can get methadone and take it when and where they please, does that mean a junkie has more rights than a smoker?
i don't believe that only 25% of the population are smokers, why it was only the other day i read a statistic the smokers we at 48%, but i don't care anyway which, in Spain there are smoking bars and non smoking bars, so if you must take your children into a den of iniquity, then chose the non smoking bar, its really that simple. I and other like minded people will be responsible enough to get a baby sitter when we go out for a drink (and smoke) |

| 3376 | B Hale | This Labour Government has systematically brought this country to its knees. It cannot control immigration, crime, use of illegal drugs, yobs etc. Even our hospitals are killing and infecting more people that passive smoking ever has done or ever will and the irony of this is that smoking is banned in hospital car parks - what a sad joke! AND why are these idiot nazi Labour MPs who were so keen to introduce this ridiculous total smoking ban exempt from it - smoking is still allowed in their own cafes, restaurants and bars - smoking can't be that dangerous then. Stephen Byers stole my Railtrack shares and the Labour Government en mass stole my freedom. A sad state of affairs when there is not one cafe, restaurant or pub in the length and breadth of this country where a smoker can enjoy a cigarette unless of course you are an MP - surely this is an injustice. Lies, lies and more lies from our corrupt, incompetent and despicable government - I am totally ashamed of being British. |
| 3377 | James Hodgson | Please stop ruining this country. What you are doing makes me what to leave my homeland in search of a FREE country. Now fuck off and leave me alone! |
| 3378 | tim mullin | Have entirely non-smoking venues, and smoking-optional places - people will choose. |
| 3379 | Anonymous | This is a ridiculous ban imposed by an inept government and based upon an endless stream of lies funded by the pharmaceutical industry who want to pedal their own nicotine repacement products. A few minutes research on the web will show that the case against SHS is very weak - a good introduction to the subject is:

If you live in a Labour area make sure your MP knows your loathing of this ban. |
| 3380 | Myke Atkinson | |
| 3381 | chris drake | |
| 3382 | John Dix | There is little point in going to the pub now as there is no one to talk to as smokers do not come any more or stand outside. The landlord has said he does not know how much longer he can carry on as profits are down drastically. If this closes,I will not be able to walk to the pub and "the hub of the community" will be lost forever. |
| 3383 | Christine Richardson | The smoking ban has completely ruined my social life |
| 3384 | Eric Watson | None smokers must be happy with fresh air in pubs but where will they go when there locals have closed ? |
| 3385 | Jo | I endorse most of the pro-smoking comments already made on this petition. Except, to say, I want the choice to smoke in restaurants too!! With or without ventilation! The same goes for airports which are particularly stressful!! The worse thing for me in all this is the realisation of the overwhelming corruption leading up to the smoking ban and still the propaganda goes on and on.....culminating in the insurmountable destruction of a once tolerant society. I second Christine's comment; this vicious legislation has totally destroyed my social life! |
| 3386 | paul walling | I am angry and appalled by our present bunch of politicians, who appear to believe that they are rulers and not servants of the people. There was never a genuine debate on the smoking ban and there is ample evidence that far fewer people supported it than voted for the present government. This ban demonstrates the depths to which real democracy and the tradition of fairness, tolerance and common sense has sunk in our once-great country. |

| 3390 | ross oatley | people must bombard there mp's to get rid of this dictatorial ban |
| 3391 | Ryan Janes | No smoking Ban! |
| 3392 | annigreen | i am signing this petition because i fear what the government can decide for me and my freedom to choose without asking me for my opinion |

| 3396 | Ruth Pearse | We are living in a Nanny State. I thought we were a democracy but it gets more like a dictatorship every year. |
| 3397 | Craig Smith | |
| 3398 | d barry | it saddens me to think how apathetic this country has become. what do we ban next ugly people |
| 3399 | ADRIAN BARNARD | |
