Julia DawsonInaction by government will result in action by citizens. When Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami have failed to use public resources to meet the basic needs of citizens they must respect the right of people to use public resources to meet their own basic needs. Leave the Take Back the Land shantytown alone!
Maida W GenserThe abandoned land should be put to good use. If the "Take Back the Land" can improve the property and provide community service, they should be allowed to continue their work.
Paul HickmanBecause left to the government's hands, this would never happen. That is a shame.
Eugenia ShermanThis effort is people helping people. If you aren't part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.
Michael MartinezI support "Take Back the Land" as the most reasonable, legal and peaceful option left, due to the current crisis and negligible sircumstances in which city oficials handled funds and broke promises. Housing is a basic necesity for life sustainance.
Allan TaylorPlease leave them alone!!!
John Peter Daly
Paul Lefrak, Broward AntiWar Coalition; SolidarityWhen the government refuses to act on behalf of the people, it's time for the people to act themselves! We need a movement like this throughout all sectors of society. What we create is rightfully ours.

Emily EisenhauerPeople have a right to use public land, and a first-amendment right to protest.
Ukali MwendoI stand in solidarity with Brothers of the Same Mind and the other groups and individuals who champion the cause of affordable housing for all people. My support is based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Article 25) which states: "Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age, or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control." Stay strong in Liberty City - and every place where tyrants seek to deprive others of a decent life.
Dorothy SerottaAlthough It seems as if the county and city governments both are willing to make gestures towards housing reform and to punish those who stole from the available fund sources, there is not nearly enough rapid progress towards alleviating the critical needs. If this takeover has the effect of galvanizing the county and city governments to do more and do it faster, then it will have served a very useful purpose. It helps those who are managing to get a toehold on some available space and it should shame our elected representatives into further rapid action to make sure that this kind of forced take-over does not have to keep on happening.

Thomas RobelotIt is about time the people started standing up for themselves and against our greedy power lusting government. We have all had enough of the old ways! we want something new and better. Something that benefits the majority of the people if not all, and not just little percent of the rich that control most of the USA's income. I support this movement more than anything.
