The petition

Petition for '07 expanded summer weekend closure to motorists of Meadowbrook Dr. along Barry Park,
aided by funding from UNSAAC (the SU street-closing committee) which allocates $330,000 for '07 to various Westcott-area groups.

We petition Mayor Matthew Driscoll, Syracuse Common Council, and Parks Commissioner Patrick Driscoll --

To expand the closure of Meadowbrook Dr. (from Broad St. to Westcott St. along Barry Park) to motor vehicles from May 30 thru Labor Day, 2007 to include Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays, from 9 A.M. to sunset.

The weekend closure of this short strip of Meadowbrook Dr. would offer a safe and convenient outdoor exercise opportunity for families with children, joggers, runners, boarders, bikers, skaters, walkers, pedestrians.

Members of Friends of Barry Park, and neighborhood residents are available to set up and remove the weekend DPW road barricades.

Just as landscapers are paid by UNSAAC funds for work around Westcott St. and Petit Library, and the Syracuse Garden Club was funded to tend the Thornden Park Mills Rose Garden on Ostrom Ave.,
and CNY Preservation Assn. was funded to survey historic homes on Berkeley Drive, workers handling the Meadowbrook Rd. traffic barricades should be paid a token amount from the UNSAAC allocation fund (i.e., the annual SU street-closing fund of $330,000) for weekend work in setting up and removing the traffic barricades from May 30 thru Labor Day, 2007.
