Agreement by the American People There exists amongst United States Citizenry, and indeed throughout the World, disagreement regarding the appropriateness of waging war on evil dictatorships who seek to develop Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). In America, we recognize that these divergent views are a healthy right of this Great Democracy and is indeed provided for by the First Amendment granting Freedom of Speech. We understand that these views are appropriately voiced and debated with our Legislative Representatives. We further understand that in recent decades, anti-war views have been inappropriately displaced and voiced against the brave men and women of our Armed Forces. In the recent past, our Troops have been greeted with disrespect and have, in fact, been criticized and denigrated for having been America’s instruments of war. We, the undersigned, composed of different mindsets regarding the appropriateness of war, form a unified voice in SUPPORT of OUR TROOPS and understand that their action is the responsibility of our elected representatives. We wish to make this distinction public
and by signing this petition we agree that regardless of the action our
Government pursues, we remain united in our gratitude and appreciation
to our TROOPS for the risks and sacrifices they will endure in this current
conflict as well as in future situations. We further understand
and support that their actions are the result of their fulfilling the oath
they undertook when enlisted to follow the orders of their President without
reservation.
