Established in 1963, the Fellowship Center is a men’s residential recovery home that provides treatment services to individuals seeking to live alcohol and drug free. All residents are there voluntarily, but in order to remain they must adhere to strict rules. Abstinence from alcohol and drugs is required. The Fellowship Center provides an environment which promotes and supports the development of life patterns conducive to good health and sobriety. The Fellowship Center has a reputation of being an outstanding addition to the Escondido community in which it is located.
I support the proposed Fellowship Center because:
- The City of Oceanside has a need for this type of treatment facility. Currently there are no licensed men’s residential alcohol and drug treatment programs within the City. Men living in Oceanside who need residential alcohol and drug treatment must seek it elsewhere in the county if they want to change the direction of their lives.
- The proposed Fellowship Center facility is compatible with the surrounding community. The Fellowship Center is committed to building a high-quality, residential facility that will complement the surrounding neighborhood and nearby historical buildings. The Fellowship Center has been working on issues of concern with its neighbors and will continue to address any potential issues through the development plan.
- The Fellowship Center has an excellent track record of being a good neighbor. The Fellowship Center has been successfully treating alcoholic and drug addicted men for more than 44 years in the City of Escondido. The Fellowship Center has received many commendations from the City of Escondido and service groups for their excellent service to the community.
