Kathleen Soch, M.D.Corpus Christi Family Medicine Residency Program affiliated with Texas A and M Health Science CenterWe have a Geriatrics Fellowship that would benefit immensely from a loan repayment program. It is very difficult to recruit good Fellows to south Texas. There are only two Geriatricians in Nueces county, my partner and myself, so there is a great need to fill our training program.
Elizabeth KwoHarvard Medical SchoolPlease support our nation's elderly!
Shivi AgrawalNortheastern Ohio Universities College of MedicineWe need to support our seniors!

Edward GreenbergUniversity of Rochester School of MedicineI definitely support increasing the support for gerontology among our nation's physicians.
Yu LeeUniversity of Texas Medical Branch @ GalvestonI support the Caring for an Aging America Act of 2008.
Katherine KutneyNortheastern Ohio Universities College of MedicineHelp us take care of our parents like they took care of us.
AnonymousUTHSCSALoan repayment incentives are a great idea to draw future medical students to the geriatrics field.
C. Ariel NasonBoston UniversityUnfortunately becoming a doctor is extremely expensive and many of us are in a huge amount of debt. We are committed to taking care of our aging patients but career decisions can't always be made based on our commitment to care if we can't pay our own student loans. Please help make providing geriatric care a viable financial option for dedicated physicians.
Sarah SullivanUniversity of Pittsburgh School of MedicineThis is a serious issue!
Stephanie NothelleIndiana University School of MedicineI support this notion.
Jacqueline YuenWeill Cornell SOMN/A
Gerhardt KonigUniversity of Pittsburgh School of MedicineThis is a very important initiative considering our aging population
Felicia SkeltonBaylor College of MedicineI wholeheartedly support this legislation.
KhariaMorehouse School of MedicineI am a 4th year medical student who before I started medical school has been committed to serviing the geriatric population. I would love to participate in the NHSC but one of the reasons why I didn't reapply after the first year I was declined was because for all that I was told I would not be able to serve my Geriatric population...Those of us who are committed to the geriatric population are out there and we are committed to serving.
Bethany SchroederUniversity of Michigan Medical SchoolAs a future provider for elderly patients, I think it is very important to encourage others to go into this field.
AnonymousWeill Cornell Medical CollegeDue to the high costs of medical school, Increased incentives are going to be necessary to fill the need for Geriatrics and Gerontology field.
AnonymousUniversity of Texas Medical BranchI would be interested to see what other incentives could be offered aside from loan repayment offers. I know that geriatricians regrettably earn smaller salaries than other doctors with less training -- this is something that should change.
Daphne LoSaint Louis University School of MedicineThis is one step towards retaining interest and physicians in the field of geriatrics. We must also move towards better insurance compensation for our services and strongly oppose cuts to Medicare/Medicaid physician compensation.
Bernadette S McKell, DOUniversity of New England College of Osteopathic MedicineI have been committed to geriatric medicine almost since I decided to attend medical school and despite the poor reimbursement rate for care of the elderly, As a first year resident, I have not changed my career plans. I just hope I am able to pay back my loans after I finish my training!
Helena KirbyRecent graduate from AACC Planning on continuing my education at Johns Hopkins UniversityI am a recent graduate from AACC with my Associates degree in nursing. I want to help to improve in the area of geriatrics and if there is any way that I can help or be more involved, please contact me at the above email address.

Michelle FujimotoTouro University College of Osteopathic MedicineI am hoping to enter the geriatric field after residency to help care for the elderly population and assist in training future doctors.
Dr Donald Rost BanikBrown UniversityCurrently, I'm a NHSC scholar and support the program's mission to treat underserved populations. One additional benefit to consider is allowing psychiatry residents the opportunity to pursue a geriatric fellowship prior to their service requirement post training. Out of the primary care fields, internal medicine and family practice residents are allowed to enter into a 1year clinical fellowship in geriatrics. Unfortunately, this opportunity is not extented to psychiatry residents who are required to enter directly into their repayment after completing their 4yr general adult residency. This is a disservice to the geriatric population by limiting a similar extension in specialty training to future geriatric psychiatrists who might otherwise stay in the community they are serving.
AnonymousUniversity of Missouri School of MedicineThis initiative would hopefully attract more physicians to the field.
AnonymousCreighton University School of MedicineNone.
Rose GomesCreighton University School of MedicineThe government needs to recognize the importance of having an adequate number of physicians who are trained to care for the geriatric population. There is a shortage of primary care physicians, and incentives should be provided to decrease this deficit. This Act will increase the number of physicians who can provide preventative care, and this will have a positive influence on longevity and quality of life.
AnonymousCreighton University School of MedicineI support this initiative
Courtney DoblemanCreighton University School of Medicine..
Kara MackenzieCreighton University School of MedicineI fully throw my support behind anything that rewards and encourages physicians to take more of an interest in geriatrics!
Michele PeggsCreighton University School of MedicineThis is important for our future
Lauren SontagMayo Medical SchoolThis bill would allow us the opportunity to pursue the field we are truly passionate about. Don't let mounting educational debt lead to a lack of quality health care for our nation's seniors.
Katherine Burton-WangCase Western Reserve University School of MedicinePlease help support our elderly--we have a moral and financial imperative to provide quality care for older adults.
