3606 RhondaMO05I think that if the parents are aware that kids are online then it should be allowed.
3607 AnonymousCA04Parents need to control their kids, not the government. It is the parents' responsibility to make sure that their kids don't give away personal information to strangers on the internet. Whatever happened to "don't talk to strangers?" When I was a kid we were constantly told to stay away from people we don't know no matter how nice they seem. Why can't parents do that these days?

3612 JonathanCT05Just as Web 2.0 is begining to reach it's potential with educator, the government want to shut it down, is this democracy or not? Hear the people Senate!

3619 MeganMD04I am a dedicated teacher who uses blogs as a safe way for students to interact with content area experts and their classmates. Student accounts are created by the teacher and there is no way for anyone to contact a student in my class through our class blog. (all email accounts link to defunct accounts that only I have access to) - I am appalled that the governments wants to censor students from safely interacting online for educational purposes because children are unmonitored when using the internet at home. I do not use myspace in the classroom and feel that it is rather too informal for my purposes - but I do not feel that it should be banned. Computer use for noneducational purposes in schools should be strictly prohibited. Any students using computers for personal use at schools should be punished in accordance with district guidelines. It infuriates me that instead of focusing on the reality - children are developing online relationships in an unmonitored setting - AT HOME, Congress is instead tying the hands of the 21st educator behind their backs. It is imperative that young Americans be taught how to stay safe online in a safe, teacher monitored setting at school instead of being left to their own devices. Megan Perry

3625 JeffreyNV06This is completely ridiculous. The problem is at home not in the schools! The upgrades that have been implimented in schools all over the country have jumped 7 fold, why take away from something that is, "in my eyes" growing in a forward positive motion? Answer, DAMN CENSOR GROUPS If the busy bodies of Censoring would look into their own lives, they probably wouldn't like what they see.
3626 AnonymousCA01please allow myspace to be at school! cuz if u dont ill have 2 use a proxy!
3627 AnonymousAR03I signed this because i know its not the fault of these websites, but the people using them. The people using them should learn to keep "stalking" information off their sites and not agree to meet people on the internet after only talking to them for a week...

3629 AnonymousWI03I've meet some of my best friends through networking sites. just because there are parents out there who don't want to monitor their kids online, doesn't mean we should all suffer.
3630 AnonymousCA02Well i for one use the computers at libaries. Seriously why the hell are they going to do dumb stuff like this. IT IS THE CHILDS FAULT FOR GOING TO THOSE WEBSITES/CHAT ROOMS. adults should teach their children to use the internet so stuff like this doesnt happen.

3635 AnonymousOH04There is NO reason everyone should be punished ... they people who need punished are the ones who do the crime there should be a rule if your a predetor you shouldnt be allowed to have internet access or access anywhere close to children period

3637 AnonymousNY03These sites are important to people. I myself have literally NO TIME for a social life, and no long distace on my home phone, with no money for cell minutes (very very long story), and I'm not the only one I know who uses Myspace, AOL, or Yahoo as their only form of communication. Smart people can keep themselves away from internet predators, anyone who might be at risk should be monitored by their parents, that's their issue, not ours. People should know better than to go out and meet these people, for every one kid that's attacked by an internet predator there are at LEAST ten thousand who aren't because their parents told them not to talk to people they don't know and they monitored them on the computer, if a law should be passed it should be that kids have to have parental consent and regular checkups by their parents on sites like Myspace to make sure there's nobody that's potentially dangerous on their buddy lists or that they've spoken to. Don't punish us for other kids' parents' mistakes...

3645 ChantelINTL01fuck censorship bitch.
3646 DeborahOR07Education is the key to stopping online predators. If students are not taught how to use social networking sites responsibly in schools, when will they learn?
3647 LauraAR06I want my freedom of speech protected. I am against you deciding what I and my children can access. Plenty of GOOD also comes from social networking sites. I am an information professional, I should know. Laura J. Cleveland MLIS Fayetteville Public Library Fayetteville, AR 72701
