3 CarlosCAAs creator of this petition and a founding member of the Friends of MySpace, I am appalled that leaders in American government continue to introduce vague and blanketing, one-size-fits-all, legislation or policies that restrict American freedoms like the right to free speech. If you are a member of MySpace, Facebook, Friendster or any other social-networking site, I encourage you to join me in fighting this proposed bill. And yes, I am a MySpace user and musician, www.myspace.com/carlostaboramusic.

7 SteveVA'Banning guns does not ban the criminal element.Like money takes on the nature of the one who possesses it , so it is the same. Why let the criminal element set the precedent'

33 PhilipWI07I participate in the Social and Political Philosophy Forum. Many of the cogent and significant contributions come from young people who take the time to know the issues. I would say the youngest intelligent participation has come from several 15-year-old both male and female. Without participation of under 18 people, our forum will not be as interesting or relevant.
34 ChrisFL08This means of communication is not used by those attempting to suppress it. Furthermore, those legislating against it are completely unfamiliar with this type of public forum and its free speach ramifications.

39 AshleyMN03I think this whole bill is STUPID. Its not Myspace's fault-Its the girl's who use the site in an immature way by putting up too much personal information about themselves. And its their own fault for WILLINGLY meeting these guys in PERSON instead of reporting them right away.
40 AnonymousPA01Myspace should be legal for all people to use in all places.

43 MackenziePA02MySpace can be a great source of information. It should be available at least in libraries. Through MySpace's many groups and the presence of the bulletin board, quite a lot of information is shared. There are thousands of politics groups, religious groups, book clubs, etc. There are groups where people post articles about what is going on in governments and what issues are being debated currently, then the people in the groups debate. It is a wonderful source of information that is not found in mainstream media. It is a source of debate. In how many settings are students given the opportunity to have a debate and contribute information to debates on topics which concern them? Not many. The schools certainly do not set aside time to discuss current issues and debate both sides of the argument. Where else will students learn both sides to every story? These groups are wonderful. I also mentioned the bulletin board. I have learned about countless violations of rights thanks to other members posting news articles on the bulletin board and the articles spreading. Information about the status of the Darfur genocide (which, by the way, the US is doing NOTHING to stop!!!), protests, violations of civil liberties, new bills which have been brought to Congress, et cetera are all posted on the bulletin board and thereby spread to the whole myspace network at the click of a button. We all become privy to information that the media doesn't want us knowing about what happens around the world or wants us to ignore just because the government is ignoring it. We learn more about the world than we would otherwise. MySpace is a great informational source, please don't ban it.
44 IfeSC01YOU CAN'T BAN MYSPACE!!!!
45 NealTN06While I do support getting tough on predators; when you consider that there are millions of MySpace members into account, in fact, incidents involving predators are exceptionally rare. I have underage listeners that support my music on MySpace and those supporters are important to me and my business. I do beleive that other measures may be taken. Therefore, I am against the proposed MySpace ban.
46 RandySC04America is delving too far into the liberties of its citizens already. This bill is pointless and should be stopped.
