160 Jo Ann TidwellI am not surprised about the recent turn of events regarding the BIA's approval in the removal of federal oversight of the Cherokee Nation OF Oklahoma. The BIA is using the same tactic that the CNO seems to use to draw attention away from itself "proclaiming" that the Freedmen are temporarily members of the tribe "once again”. If I were .............. a Congresswoman, I would ask Carl Artman, if he was trying to muddy the waters to draw attention away from the real problem? I would ask Carl Artman IF, the real problem was the funneling of federal dollars into the 1975 Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. I would ask if he were defraying an investigation would point to the bigger picture in the larger scheme? Which included a scheme to misguide voters to abuse federal policy. I would ask what he was afraid of. I would ask, what are you hiding? If I were ................Carl Artman, I would say bring on the federal audits, bring it on because the BIA can with stand the scrutiny, we have nothing to hide! But, we as Indian people know better than that. ? Don't we??!! I am a supporter of the Freedmen and I am the supporter of giving Chad Smith his due. I want accountability, I want checks and balances. Chad Smith is guilty of misguiding his flock and feeding them a load of crap. He knew that the Freedmen could not be excluded from the tribe, yet he proceeded with their expulsion by convincing members of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma to hold and embrace racist views, the VOTE on them. And with that ugliness, Chad Smith has done an injustice to the Cherokee people and denied them their real Chief, STACY LEEDS!

166 John CornsilkChad Smith clamors let the courts settle the matter, his own court settled the matter in the Allen Decision. www.cornsilks.com/allendecision.html right off he states, the ruling had no meaning. He set out to over turn it, Chad Smith respect a court ruling, what a joke. That is why this issue is in Congress because the people knew that Congress was the only power that be, Chad and his cronies in the BIA can not manipulate, and has the power to investigate the situation (Congressional Hearings) and bring this Cherokee Freedmen to a just and legal closure. Chad Smith wants this issue in his court so he can engage in his manipulative tactics. He has gotten away with it for so long. It is good Congresswoman, Diane Watson, choose to be involved and right off and saw that Chad Smith is two-faced with his babble saying , let the courts work. He didn't respect his own Supreme Court, so how can he respect any other court? The Congress, is on on the right track, investigate with no negotiations what so ever with Chad Smith and cronies in the BIA. And let we Cherokee get on with being a Nation. Understand folks a Nations citizenry are Nationals, NOT individuals of RACE! John Cornsilk Cherokee Citizen
167 Elva HensonThe current Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma has lost its Indian characteristics. Now is time for Congress to act in its plenary power to safeguard federal funds.
168 Sheryl MartinLet's not give away or give up on that which belongs to us, something that The Great Spirit gave us freely to enjoy, while others stole from our ancestors, living a lifestyle that many of us can't have because of greed and deceit! Let the Voices of War stir the wicked to give in, and let us by faith keep fighting for Justice and Truth in this matter!
169 Sabrina Meek-SledgePlease post this as it is very important - I am a native american of Cherokee descent. Both maternal grandmothers were "Full-Blooded" Cherokee, I am not a member of any clan, I do not carry a blood quantam card, I do not need the U.S. Federal government to tell me of this it is with me as I walk everyday, in blood, in soul, in spirit. The U.S. Government has no right to set limits and boundaries on our people as to how we qualify for being in their eyes a true Cherokee of any clan. The U.S. government continues to disgrace our people with their rules and regulations. May we as a people come together once again and take back what is righfully ours, whether it be our lands, our freedom, our rights to our past and ways of life. Let no man take our dignity and respect away, but this can not be taken away unless we give it away. Times are changing, the buerarcy of the government is still in our lives as it was years ago for our ancestors that have gone before us. We as a people must not allow such atrocities to continue affecting us, our lives and our childrens lives.

173 Isaac ConyersI find it disgraceful that the Oklahoma Cherokees would attempt "Ethnic Cleansing" against the Freedman and those Cherokees with African American blood. The same people that supported, helped(thru Civil Rights gains of which our leaders died for)) , and faught with the Cherokees against those that attempted "Genocide" to exterminate them. Now the Cherokees have leaders bred with those who attempted the Genocide, and now want to expell all those with African American blood. The Cherokees need leaders that will be inclusive of all members, not the parasites in current leadership.
174 Bobby G. Stinson"I Bobby G." Fire Walker" Stinson...an Freedmen Descendant of the original enrollees of the Dawes Rolls of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, cast my vote." of support for the plight and quest for fair treatment and equality for the Freedmen Descendants Of the Five Civilized Tribes."
175 Sheryl D. MartinOn the behalf of that side of my family that represents the Cherokee Nation, I take a stand on all issues that affect our rights as citizens of the Cherokee Nation! We deserve Justice!

179 Janalle C. WallaceI believe the 1880 roll taken by the Cherokee National Council voted on December 1879 and finished August 1880 was and is a much more accurate roll of those by blood and those not by blood than the Dawes roll which has many inconstancies. to ignore the 1880 roll is to truly disregard Cherokee National law. The Cherokee elected officials of the time knew what and why they were taking that roll. The government oversight committe of the day approved and even said this roll was the most accurate they had seen.
