marilee long-saxe | horses deserve trails too!
Dennis Christmas | Keep the trails open
Robert Luce | Trails should remain open for equestrain use, how do you think our anncestors setteled the land. It was not on a mountain bike.
Anonymous | Please open the trails for horseback riding.
Gary York | Colorado 's front range is in desperate need of more multi-use parks/trails for recreation as the population continues to grow. As an equestrian I would certainly enjoy having more places to ride as the trails are getting more use every year.
Mychele Smith | Please keep the park open for horses.
Pamela Sattler |
Richard L Hartmann | Horses are a great part of Colorado's economy and therefore tax contributions to the state. Ranchers and others raise horses for sale, Peolple have training businesses and tourists travel many miles to ride horses in colorado at dude ranches etc. To deny horses in state parks is to deny people who make money from horses and pay taxes on it the right to use their state parks
Jean M. Petkovsek | Please don't shut horse people out. We are a part of the Colorado and western heritage. Horsemen pay taxes and brand inspector fees. We pay fees to use the parks just like other people and it is descrimination to deny us access to these parks. We help to clear and maintain trails as well as volunteer in search and rescue operations. Also, having access the the parks, trails and forest is the best and sometimes only way that many of us with us with disabilities or due to age can access and fully enjoy the outdoors. My ability to hike for long distances is very limited, but I can still and do ride. If you close the parks to horses, you close the park to people like me. Please don't do this to us!
Joan E Revis | The trails for horses cannot be lost in this state. We have a wonderful and beautiful culture of horseback riding and we are losing that by closing the parks to horses. Please open more state parks to horses. Thank You, Joan

Jean Sharer | Closing our state parks to horses is unfair. Closing some trails to hikers or to bike riders might be another option.
Jessica Talbot |
Laura Houston | We can't be shut out of places, it's not right. It's like raceism only for horses so it would be horseism.

Heather Collaton | Last time I checked, Colorado was considered the American West. And exactly, why would horses be excluded from this landscape? Keep Colorado's trails open to the legacy of the horse in the American West.
Debby Locke | I ride many trails and have found the Forest Service and BLM is slowly closing access to many of them I have ridden over the past 30 years or they are opening more limiteid access areas to 4 wheeler and motorcycles and now the areas are over used and trashed
Kay Burkett |
Laurie DiNatale | It is especially important to include all non-motorized users, on an equal level, in the Colorado State Parks. Equestrians pay CO State taxes also, and should be treated equitably. Thank you for your work and consideration on this issue.
Patty Ruwoldt |
Dale Anderson |
Sarah Bushong-Weeks | I'm tired of being ignored as a horse person. Please don't turn your back on us as so many others have.
Shirley Dumaw |
Valerie Vendetti |
| 131 | Elsa Schroeder | I moved to Colorado 32 years ago because I was moving to the WEST. Horses have long been a part of western history. Now it seems we are more concerned with soccer fields and subdivisions and people who love to hike, bike, ATV and four wheel.
To each his own, but do not exclude those of us who commit to the horse, because it is a huge committment financially and in countless other ways. Please don't let the only place people see horses is at the Stock Show or represented by the bronze statues at the entrance to numerous subdivisions. Horses allow people who phsically cannot mountain bike or hike to also enjoy our beautiful mountains. The horse is a part of Western History, allow us to continue to be that and enjoy that which we love. |

Bonnie Bills |
Cathy Whitlatch |
Susan Clements | As a parent of a 4-H rider it is getting harder to find venues for trail riding. Riding is being limited more and more to arena riding. More safe trails, open to horses are needed in CO.
Warren Craig | Horses and riders existed long before cyclists and backpackers. Colorado's western tradition is being eroded away by these groups and others. It is imperative that this tradition be kept alive and and that the back-country remain open to ALL who wish to be there; for ourselves and for future generations of horsemen and horsewomen.
| 137 | Rodney D. Kelley | Please consider the many benefits of horses and our heritage.
Exclusion is inappropriate... just as it is inappropriate to exclude those with disability. |
Bonnie Templeton | Trails should be open to horses as well as hikers and bikers. Riders are also part of the public and should have equal access.
Signe Wheeler | I definately think that the trail should be open to horse usage, every bit as much or more than is allocated for bike. The horses do not damage the trails nearly as much nor do they bring in harmful weeds as bike tires often do. We need to keep Colorado a western state and that means horses in natural settings. thank you, Signe Wheeler
Chris Morris | Please allow horses on as many trails as possible!
Barb Cleaver | I am in favor to keeping open trails available for equestran purposes. Let's not take away one of the most important things that makes Colorado, Colorado.
Karla Cosgrove | Please leave our State Parks open for equestrian use. It is the joy of my life to be able to enjoy our wonderful state with my horse. Thank you for your consideration.
stephanie bryant |
| 144 | Judy Perlman | Economically, equestions bring alot of revenue into Colorado's coffers.
Environmentally, the horse was on that land before bikers and hikers. Horses do not disturb nature's balance.
Equestrians should have the opportunity and right to enjoy their state parks . There should be rules for equestrians as well as rules for hikers, bikers etc. Our state parks should be multi-use facilities open to all not just a few . Please include riding trails and trailer parking areas when you plan the park's recreation areas. Thank you |
Cat Cunningham | To support trail horse riders by including them in State Parks is to respect and honor the history of Colorado. Horses/pack animals are also an important part of Colorado economy and to allow horses in State Parks supports this vital part of our local economy.
Dorothy Nepa | I live in the area and am concerned that with all the growth the Metro area equestrians continue to be ignored on trail use.
