Jack & Susan McKelvyDespite attending meetings and suggesting corridor connections with other trails above the proposed park, Colorado State has opted to severely limit horse use....WHY???

Sherry H. SneadEquestrians should have equal opportunity to our state park trails as all other recreationist. It is unjust and unfair to limit our use of parks. Many scientific studies have been done showing that horses (especially given our limited numbers) are no more harmful to the environment than mountain bikes and the thousands of hikers that use trails.

Ann SmithHorses do not erode natural surface trails as bicycles do. Nor do horses impose on the activity of wildlife as bicycles do. Please provide more equestrian trails.
jana preheimEquestrian user groups are important too and we can co-exist happily with other use groups. Give us a chance!

AnonymousUse of saddle and pack stock in our great State of Colorado is a huge heritage. We must maintain access for both pack and saddle stock!
Susan Peters
AnonymousPlease don't shut horses out of the trails the way Cheyenne Mtn State Park did.
Kay GunckelPlease allow horse back riding in the State Park.
Lisa SowellI see a great opportunity for staff to impart a positive impression by allowing horse use at Staunton, particularly in a community such as this, that has a high population of horse owners and trail riders. As a hiker, mountain biker and equestrian I know and appreciate the benefits of shared public spaces. Thank you for the opportunity to speak for the horse community.

Janet L. HannonHorses must be allowed on the trails in Colorado. It is why we moved here !!!

Georgia BarrentinePlease preserve the historic use of horses on Colorado's public lands. This is the west where horses are part of the western tradition. Thank you

Cindy KelleyAs a third generation Coloradoan, I'm finding that what made this state so wonderful to live in 40 years ago, and why so many people have moved here, is gradually eroding away. The decline of available land that equestrians can use is just one more reason that we need to stand up and declare that preserving the rights of horse owners and the heritage of this great state is important and must be heard. As citizens of Colorado, we count too! It only makes sense that we should have beautiful and safe places to enjoy our outdoor activity in a state that encourages the use of the outdoors.

Kenley BrunsdaleSave our trails - for people and horses!
Kayla MacPhersonWe moved to from California to Colorado to enjoy the beautiful trails with our horse, our mountain bikes and just hiking. There is virtually no place in California to ride horses and limited mountain biking at that...in fact very little open space to enjoy at all. Please keep these resources available to all that wish to enjoy the beauty of Colorado's State Parks whether on foot, on bike or on horse back!

Nancy FlippinAccording to the AHC there are 256,000 horses in Colorado. 102,400owners/suppliers/volunteers. The national industry has a $1.6 billion impact on Colorado economy. The CO horse industry produces goods and services valued at $956 million. To close trails to equestrians in Co you will be affecting over 100,000 people and many millions of dollars. Do not close trails to horses!!
Christina Knight
dave poortingaPlease preserve the historic use of horses on public land. Horse people support the State park system as well as do the hiker and bikers.

Catherine GrimesStaunton State Park should permit equestrians to utilize the trail system.
Rick MellickerStaunton State Park should permit equestrians to utilize the trail system.
Carol LambRequest equal access for equestrian use of trails at Staunton State Park!
Katie Bartonneed to keep trails open to horses please!
Bettie S TillerPlease do not continue taking away our rights to ride our horses in CO. Most horsemen are very aware of the need for conservation and leave he land as it was found.
Lonnie Gunter
Regina S. TamblynPlease! Don't push us out! What is Colorado without horses and horse trails.
Gary M. TamblynDon't push us out!
Tom HartzellA horse's hooves are far more kindly to the environment than a bicycle's tires in terms of runoff and erosion. Also, a horseman is every bit as likely as a cyclist or hiker to carry their trash out -- if not more so.
