WHEREAS Americans depend on Social Security to help provide for a secure, meaningful retirement;
WHEREAS the Social Security system will begin to run deficits by the year 2018;
WHEREAS the Social Security system will be unable to keep its financial commitments to future retirees as early as the year 2042;
WHEREAS the Social Security system faces a $11 trillion dollar cumulative deficit;
WHEREAS the current Social Security system discriminates against African-Americans, working women, single people (including homosexual professionals), and Latinos;
WHEREAS even former President Bill Clinton has acknowledged the Social Security “Trust Fund” is merely a pile of IOUs;
We the undersigned urge all members of the United State Senate and the United States House of Representatives to support reform measures that will allow workers to voluntarily invest a portion of their Social Security contribution into Personal Retirement Accounts. |
