The petition

Most villagers were injured when the police fired rubber bullets, after teargas and a 'lathicharge' proved ineffective in dispersing villagers at Singur, who resisted fencing in the area earmarked for the Tata Motors small car project today.

A group of villagers pelted stones at the police when they were stopped from entering the fields at Joymolla village where the fencing work was on, police said.

As the tension mounted with villagers coming out of their homes at Beraberi, Ghaserberi to resist fencing work, police burst teargas shells and fired rubber bullets.

Some villagers alleged that the police entered their homes, beat them up and set on fire their stocks of paddy.Women were harrassed and beaten as well!

When enquired,Chief Minister of W.B. Budhadeb Bhattacharya reacted with a tolerant shrug, as usual, and blamed everything on the villagers.

This issue might have some link with Nov. 30. 2006 when Mamta Banerjee was forcibly stopped on her way to Singur for a rally against a proposed Tata Motors car project, and harassed.

Common people are becoming scapegoats to political differences and resentments between different parties.
The sight of the village and helpless villagers during the massacre(shown most accurately on "Kolkata T.V.) would bring tears to anyone's eyes(if not inhuman.

Lets join hands to protest(irrespective of cultural or ethnical differences) against such inhuman activities, and prove ourselves human...
