# NameCommentsShould Douglas Alexander MP resign?Where do you live?
Jim MacLeodA scandal which I saw at first hand at the polling stations and counts afterwards. The powers that be were warned. The Parliamentary ballot papers should have been kept seperate and the elections for Parliament and Council been held on two different dates.0101
Alastair GreigDouglas Alexander is a muppet.0101
Margaret DochertyAn absolute disgrace that there should be so many spoiled papers. As per Alex Salmond comments for full inquiry to be carried out and ensure this farce does not happen again.0101

AnonymousIt is a scandal that so many votes have been lost. People have every right to expect that if theychoose to vote that it willl be counted. Why use computing and e-voting which are so open to abuse. a full enquiry and even a re-run of this floored election shold be considered and, preferably carried out.0102
Patricia Smith0101
Marion BrockieSuch a shambles may increase apathy (Why bother voting when I don't even know if my vote will count) However, it should cause outrage that this has been allowed to happen. What price true democracy? Those responsible for the shambles should hang their heads in shame and apologise to the nation.0301
Robert Hainsworthre-run whole election!0101
Matt DuffyMy postal vote arrived to late so I couldn't get it back on time.0101
John CrowtherWe were advised that the system had been extensively tried and tested - Quite clearly it wasn't. The electorate has been sorely tried and tested by this new voting system which was foisted upon us which has made Scotland look amateurish in the eyes of the world. Douglas, I only have to words of advise for you - GO NOW.0101
Georgina GordonYou and your system have made Scotland the laughing stock of the world. Hang your head in shame and resign now.0101

Anonymoushis indifferent attitude is a disgrace0101
Caroline Hoskingyet another shambles involving Labour and ofcourse privatisation0101
Graham Buchan0101
allan armstrongIf this had happened in Venezuela, or some other country out of favour with US and UK governments, they would already be organising a coup or an invasion force!0101
Angus MacRuryI believe that the forewarning received of potential electoral chaos (which was ignored and over-ruled) makes the position of Alexander Douglas untenable and have a similar view of his washing his hands of any blame, (even partial), when questioned in the House of Commons in London by his parliamentary colleagues as well as opposition parties. Furthermore, I believe most strongly that an Independent Judicial Enquiry (or similar Independent Inquiry) is required partially because of the controversy surrounding the potential disenfranchising of a large portion of the Scottish electorate and the implications this has of every citizen for having the democratic right to vote. Another more practical reason is that any inquiry that involves the government themselves is almost certainly just going to be considered potentially as an unsatisfactory whitewash which will be timed to suit the Labour party rather than ensuring the all encompassing and honest approach required to allay the fears of the Scottish electorate over any potential to have other interests being in a position to distort the eventual conclusion reached in their favour. The public need to be absolutely confident that this embarrassing debacle that should never happen in a modern country, is considered to be worthy of investigation and being of the highest priority to ensure public confidence in the voting system in future elections Thank You0101

Charles ClarkA total disgrace. A deliberate attempt to confuse voters.0101

Alistair Fisherthe hole thong was a shambles - for one I was not aware that the voting system had changed0101
Jonathan Bate01
Alan BoyceI was a council candidate at hese elections and saw the spoilt ballot papers it was a farse0101
Jason Mangan0101
Robert Willansuch arrogance seems all too common. junior staff get sacked/lose pensions. Those at the top - resign? never - they get moved on to lucrative posts/pensions0101
chris walkerAlexander and Cairns are the kind of Scots who have given stupidity a bad name [again]. They are not fit for purpose, any purpose I can think of except resignation.0101
karl riordan0101
Anonymous0101
Graham CampbellThe scandal of the loss of so many - predominantly working class and senior citizens' votes, should in any African country result in a re-run of this sham election. Labour and the other big parties deliberate chose a cofusing mix of electoral systems and ballot paper, with the express intention to cause a reduction in the minor parties vote. How dare they speak of spreading democracy to Iraq and Afghanistan. Jimmy Carter himself would probably void this election as unsafe. Roll on the UN election observers for the next time.0101
mary spowart0101
Daniel Foley0101
AnonymousThe election should be rerun - democracy has not been served. Elsewhere in the world that is what would be demanded not an inquiry.01
