| 22 | Anonymous | Council tax is a breach of human rights and must be stopped once and for all. I highly praise the Scottish government for coming up with an alternative like LIT and I really hope it gets the go ahead.
As a person on a very low income I fully support this new system, I only recieve enough cash to pay my bills, rent and the usual utilities, as well as this down right nonsense which is called Council Tax.
I have no car, no LCD TV, No Playstation 3, a manky sofa, a hoover that barely works, a moist/smelly carpet due to roof leakage and a Pentium II PC. I cannot afford a car, LCD TV, PS3, new sofa, new carpet, new hoover or a new PC.
I just think about all the wealthy people in my town who can pay their taxes, bills, drive BMW's and SUV's as well as live to the extreme while im stuck in a den with financial barriers galore and relying on my bicycle to get to places.
This new system can breathe fresh air into my financial struggles, it is much much fairer being that the rich will get taxed more wheras us poor people will not, and we will have left over money to do what we want with it, even donate the money to a charity that will help develop a third world country, rather than apparantly "improving" our home town with council tax.
to pay a fixed sum of money like £125 every month no matter how little you are earning is just absolutely ludicrious! Council Tax MUST be abolished, for the good of mankind, for the good of the Scottish people, for the good of Scotland. |
