dean simpson | am not a moreland resident but use the pool with friends.
Jo Roberts | The pool complex is in a beautiful location, and was one of the facilities we were looking forward to using when we bought in Coburg at the end of 2006. Its closure has been a great disappointment to our family. As we most likely only have hotter and longer summers ahead of us, it would be nothing short of cruel to the people of Coburg for the council not to refurbish and reopen the pool complex for the coming summer. It is a precious community asset.

Suzanne Peyton | My family and I wholeheartedly support the campaign to re-open the coburg pool, we have two young boys who would be there every day if it was open over summer. Please do the right thing by the community and support this venture.
Mary Dean Huon Jade | the pool is our recreational facility. it's time we get it back.
Ben McGill | Don't leave our pool Up the Creek!
Mohammed El-leissy | This pool is located at a really crucial area that is close to thousands of residents that have benefited from having it there. All it needs is a revamp.
sasha lewis | I went to school at Newlands state school way back in the 50's, they detroyed that school, they destroyed Coburg High, and now moves are afoot to re-establish these institutions - don't do the same to the wonderful old pool - it's a valuable part of the local heritage!!!!!
Helen Said |
Janoel Liddy | We need our local pool! Please don't close down an asset where our community gathers.

Leanne Trickey | The council needs to get on board with this valuable asset
phoebe barton |
Campbell Gome | As the summers get longer and hotter, the pool is really important to us.
Michelle Croker | Outdoor pools play an important role in providing recreational as well as health and fitness opportunities for local communities. The continuing closure of the Coburg pool is a backwards step at a time when the local community needs more people-based decisions from Council, rather than ways to tighten the bottom line.
Anonymous | I have recently moved to west preston and the Coburg Olympic swimming pool is now my closest swimming pool. I swim regularly and if the pool were to re open I would without doubt swim there often. I also have friends with families who live locally to the pool and I know they too would use the pool regularly. It would be a great to benefit to the community to reopen the Coburg olympic Swimming Pool.

Lisa Masini | Please, please, please reopen Coburg Olympic. Surely with all the new residents moving into the area (Pentridge, Kodak development) we need this fantastic amenity to make our neighbourhood an even greater place to live!! I know myself, my husband and two sons would just love to spend lovely summer days swimming in the pools and playing on the grass. Please honour your rate payers and save our pool. Lisa
Ken Taylor | While the ALP is in power they could do this small thing for the northern suburbs.

nathan matthews | Stop lying to us. It will cost less than the price of one house to fix so stop being such tightarses and approve the funds. You will be making a fortune from the developments at Kofak and Pentridge. Cheers.
Anne Martinelli |
Riki Lane |
Kitty Owens | We miss walking to the pool when the house is unbearable (no AC) and its too hot to get in the car, and meeting friends for a picnic, doing some laps under the big blue sky, watching the kids cavorting from under the shade of the peppercorn trees, looking out over the parkland by the creek. Expensive to run but what an amazing community asset. Re-open the pool and watch all the new families in the area embrace the pool and work with council to re-invigorate the tired but lovely Coburg Olympic Pool.
lucia bitonti | there is a growing population of young folk living in close vicinity to the pool who would benefit enormously. The charm and asset of this area is the sense of community and having a local pool would continue this trend and self sufficiency that is felt
| 83 | Denise Chevalier | The pool can contribute enormously to the health and happiness of residents in the area, It is a long way to go to the next outdoor pool.
It would be great to heat the pool like Fitzroy pool. This means that the pool could be used all year and get a better return on the investment |
asa letourneau | Please don't let the life blood of the community dry up!
Mandy Williamson |
Isobel Parker | Please open the pool so that i can take my grand daughter to swim and meet with all the other local kids to participate in healthy, community building activities - it belongs to the community so give it back! Shame on Moreland Council for neglecting community owned infrastructure and closing the pool using lies about water restrictions. Pathetic!
Nick Murphy | Cough up the money Moreland! - where is the money you have saved having the pool closed for 2 summers - that amount is about what is needed to fix the pool up! You owe it to the community after all the lies and game playing, do the right thing now!
Greg Milne |
Shae Allen | This pool is fantastic and wonderful resource for the people of coburg, moreland and surrounding areas. Please reopen the pool for us all to enjoy this coming summer.

Javier Moderana | My name is Javier (mostly people call me 'Harvey') and I'm two - the pool was closed just before I was born so I still haven't been inside the locked gates, even though I have walked by lots in the pram - I want to swim in the toddler pool while I'm still toddling, when I get a bit bigger maybe Mummy will let me swim in the big kids pool and I can wear floaties. When I'm a really big boy I will be able to walk to the pool by myself 'cause I live just down the road. I will buy an icy pole at the kiosk and splash water at the girl I like from school. I want this pool to be part of my childhood and teenage memories of growing up in Coburg - do not take these memories away from me Council of Moreland before I even get a chance to make them.

Fiona McHugh |
Tosca Looby | One of the most effective things a council can do to compromise the long-term health of its rate payers is take away the local pool.
Denise Becker | I took my foster daughter and her friends to this lovely pool many times. It was a great resource for parents with little money.
