The petition

Dear Mayor Duran,

We, the undersigned residents of the Town and County of Taos, address
this open letter to you, Mr. Mayor, because we are deeply concerned
about the direction of Town affairs. We are concerned about the actions
(as well as the inactions) of the Town Manager and we are concerned
that, once again, a Planning Director has resigned.

We need leadership that can aggressively address community and
economic issues and act quickly. We need leadership that believes in
active cooperation between the Town and the County. We need
leadership that can work in harmony with all departments, as well as
providing desperately needed additional staff to handle the increased
work load in all areas. We need leadership that can aggressively
pursue developing guidelines that address infrastructure needs,
traffic, and services issues. We need leadership in creating
meaningful public notice and transparency in critical areas of policy
making.

In your State of the Town speech, you pledged to listen to the
citizens. We sign this open letter in hopes of seeing improvements in
town affairs. We do not condone what is happening under your
leadership. We do not believe that you have an open administration, and
as a result, the character of the Town and County of Taos and our
quality of life are at risk. We ask that you give this matter your
careful consideration and take steps to rectify the problems in those
areas mentioned here.
