Gailyn Bell-UppNortheastern University needs to stop making such terrible decisions about... everything.
Kaitlin SullivanI have had classes with both professors and in each class I felt that I learned a great deal. If the university lets these great professors go, they would be doing a great disservice to the journalism school, which is already lacking in the areas these professors teach.

Irene OladeindeThe university should not get rid of these two extraordinary professors. As a former student of Both Gladys and Link, I know that the university would be loosing two exceptionally integral faculty members. The university need to rethink their policy on Masters Degrees. Journalism is a field which until recently has been dominated by professionals who do not have PhDs and most of which did not graduate college. By denying the University of people who have everyday working knowledge of a field and replacing them with people who have little more than learned book knowledge, in my opinion is unexceptionable.

Nicole KeimerWhy is the University making the same mistake they just made with Professor Picillo? Obviously the students believe that people do not need to have a PhD to be effective teachers. Why is this not obvious to the administration who promotes higher education?

Ashley TraupmanThis is insane! Journalists are better professors when they have practical experience. These professors are essential to the Journalism department and firing them would be ridiculous!
IgorThis decision is ridiculous and makes me question yet again my university choice.
Arminé NalbandianThere are so many students at NU who are interested in pursuing a career in public relations -- Gladys Mckee plays a vital role in fulfilling that need.

Stefanie BairIn my two years at Northeastern, I have had several different types of professors. I have learned, very quickly, that simply because a professor has a PhD does not mean that they are a better professor than one without a degree of that level. Truly gifted professors are the ones who care about their students, who make themselves available outside of the classroom for help and who, when they come into the classroom each day, make it evident that they are passionate about their craft and passing on their knowledge. These are the types of professors that are invaluable to an institution such as Northeastern, and it saddens me that the administration is putting academic credentials before true passion, talent, and love of teaching, thus emptying our school of the talented professors that make Northeastern stand out among other colleges and universities. Without educators such as these, Northeastern is just another school.
bessie kingShe is one of the nicest and most professional teachers and the only PR representative in our department. Where will we get another talented professor like her that will also be liked by students? If she is let go, whoever takes her spot will not be welcome with open arms specifically but rather with painful memories.
Garth ChouteauAs a PR professional of 20+ years' standing, I can safely say that in-the-trenches, real-world experience is far more valuable than any degree. To deny your students the opportunity to learn from veteran instructors with lengthy track records in the PR field is a disservice to your students.
bessie kingProfessor Link McKie was the one who made me WANT to do journalism after I was doubting my career choice in Jrn 1. He has talent, pasison for the trade, and experience, whoever he is intended to leave for will not be able to fill his shoes, so why let him go? This is unfair, the desicion is supposed to benefit students but WE were never asked for our opinions on which professors are good or not.

Elizabeth DudekThese professors care greatly for their students and as a journalism major, I find it ridiculous that they would be taken off the staff considering the enormous impact they have on our lives. The university needs to reevaluate its decision and take into account what great teachers and important classes they are throwing away.

Matthew SoleynYet again the administration of Northeastern has failed to do what is in the best interest of the student body. I hope they change their minds and reinstate these two instructors.

JessicaI had both professors during my time at Northeastern and I learned so much from both of them! They have spent years creating the classes they (and they alone) teach. Hiring people to replace them soley because they have a higher degree will destroy the program many alumni and I learned so much from. NU created their reputation based on the idea that work experience is just as important as the degree itself, and this decision makes NU look like hypocrites.

Jessica LewisI am an alumni of NEU and the former fundraising chair for the NUPRSSA. We must fight against this injustice. When an instructor has had an established teaching career as well as a significant career in his/her field they should be treated as scholars. Northeastern University is all about combining education with experience in the field so how can they get rid of two talented professors when they are well aware that their experiences more than qualify them to teach, as they have been. Just because they don't have the paper does not mean they don't have the education and shame on Northeastern for saying otherwise.

Justina AlicudoI have had Gladys as a teacher and Link has been a guest speaker in one of my classes. Both are extremely educated in their fields and I am always intrigued in hearing what they have to say. Termintating their employment as educataors at our school would be an injustice to the students.
