G David | Hopper | MA | US | As a ocean racing sailor I feel strongly that NOAA be allowed to report more than just severe weather.
Richard | Moore | FL | | As a boater and coastal resident who depends upon the data ( which I have alredy paid for as a taxpayer) I stongly oppose this bill!
DARLUS | GERSON | CA | US | THIS IS A NO BRAINER GET A REAL JOB. TRYING TO TAKE AWAY WEATHER REPORTS BECAUSE THE WEATHER IS NOT HARSH ENOUGH TO REPORT IS THE MOST RETARDED THING THAT I HAVE EVER HEARD.
David | Keller | FL | US | If a private company wants to process and distribute information that company should also gather that information. Information gathered at taxpayer expense should be accessable to the taxpayers.
Brian | Gulliver | | US |
Edgar | Rodriguez | TX | US |
dawn | dodson | LA | US | in order to give severe weather alerts MUST BE ABLE TO DO RESEARCH!!!! I am not sure who the IDIOT is whom thinks that the national weather servise can do their job WITHOUT FACTS.who is better at gathering data than the people who use it on a daily basis.
Richard | Korte | CA | US |
Nicholas | Simicich | FL | US | I live in Hurricane Country. I get the best information directly from the NOAA, and from web sites like weather underground - and I have to have good information about weather other than severe weather. Those sites distill the information from the NWS and NOAA and make it accessible. The Weather Channel does not provide local products out where I live. When I decide to drive, I need to see thunderstorms - and where they are movin. Weather is important to us, and this is just another special interest rape.
norman | cyr | MS | US | there are many other wasteful money spending areas big brother needs to look at.
Jim | Manuel | NY | US | I strongly agree.
Lisa | Colson | FL | US |
Karen | Doss | | US |
Christopher | Spring | | |
Jim | Dennis | OH | US | I am a sailor, please keep NWS free. Do not be taken in my someone recieving kickbacks from AccuWeather (which is not very accurate either).
Scott | Weberpal | WI | | As a conservative republican, I am outraged at Sen. Santorum. The interests of the general taxpaying public are at stake here
Jeff | Davis | | | What The Heck I want to know when a tornado will strike!!!!
Elizabeth | Stapleton | | |
James | Hansen | TX | | This bill is nothing more than Senator Santorum kowtowing to a business in his state to the detriment of the rest of the country.
John | Maitner | | | The 2005 hurricane season make the defeat of this bill more important than ever....
Christopher | Meloche | MS | US | Please retract this bill. The national weather service provides a service to the public that is unsurpassed by any private organization at very small cost to the taxpayer. It is obscene that the you should even consider letting all taxpayers contribute to the essential services of the NWS and then making us have to pay a private service to get a forcast product that is generated with data from the NWS. We taxpayers pay for it and AccuWeather makes money from it. Please kill this bill now.
Ann | Dupont | | US |
| 9575 | Jeff | Crawford | AR | US | I rely on the information presented by the NWS and find the information they provide exceedingly excellent and unmatched by most if not all private sector entities.
|
Charles | Freeman | FL | US |
Marc | Dorwitt | NY | US |
Steven | Shell | FL | | Please eliminate the National Weather Service Duties Act of 2005, Senate Bill S.786. This shortsighted, unintelligent bill will only ultimately harm the public. The NWS is the premiere weather organization in the world. The hurricane forecasting alone probably saved the life of my family and friends. We also frequently use the marine forecast in our weekend preparations. We should be INCREASING our funding for this superb federal program. My wife and I are both physicians and Republicans, and cannot understand the obtuse rationale behind this bill.
Logan | Stine | LA | US |
Sean | Auerbach | FL | US |
Michael | Manley | GA | US |
Colin | Snyder | IN | US |
Jimmy | Bouma-Holtrop | IN | US | I am not making this up, I am not being mis-informed by the media, I have read the bill and understand it.
Frances | Berger | NY | US | I am a survivor of an F5 tornado which destroyed our home and killed 20 people in our small town back in the 50s, before we had the tracking and warning systems put into place by the National Weather Service. Do you really seriously think that the good people in our storm-battered Midwest should be charged to access life-saving information? I would happily vote you and yours out of office before I would help support your legislation in any way!
Brian | Jernigan | GA | US |
Gina | Choquette | FL | US |
Felix | Nash | | |
Vernus | Johnson | IL | US |
Cory | Pesaturo | IN | US | HOW COULD THEY EVEN THINK OF DOING THIS!!! The NWS is Definately the Most ACCURATE Source I use and I ALWAYS Use IT!!!
| 9590 | Sam | Frazier | MD | US | The NWS Duties Act of 2005 is a shameful example of how special interests are corrupting goverment. Stop this now!
Thanks, Sam |
Amy | Smith | VA | US |
Matthew | Mountzuris | MA | US | Im a meteorology major and this cant happen.
Jason | McCaul | | | please do not scale back features of the NWS...many of us who follow the weather depend on this government agency. Thank you.
Andrew | Barton | | | Screw Senator Rick Santorum and his half-baked Bill. And to hell with Accuweather for greasing his filthy palms with the cash to get this crap started in the first place.
James | Lee | VA | US |
Jon | Davies | SD | |
Jonathan | Livesay | TX | US | Please don't do away with this worthwhile important service.
Craig | McMahan | RI | US | This legislation will not save money and will only result in poorer weather forecasting.
