Nicole Godin | As an Ottawa city resident, OPL user and professional librarian - I am absolutely appalled at the prospect of 10 library branches closing and the current state of the central branch. Ottawa is a city entrenched in knowledge services, information management and related disciplines. As such, it is an absolute travesty that City Council would seek to marginalize sectors of the population that use the library, diminish the transfer of knowledge within its community, and seek to destroy the very democratic foundation for which it derives its authority. A very sad state of affairs in deed.
John Kowalski | The Ottawa Public Library is an invaluable public resource which promotes an activity which is essential to a democratic country; reading. Access to books is an absolute must in a society which values independent thought and different points-of-view. As television continues its decline into an abyss of mind-numbing reality shows and infomercials whose sole purpose is to sell products and services, it is all the more imperative that the citizens of Ottawa have an accessible public library system which promotes reading and independent thinking.
Joel Xavier | Dont close the libraries they are a major part of the learning experience, To close a library is to say that your citizens dont deserve to learn.
Anonymous | Blackburn Hamlet is a unique area. The BH branch plays an important role in the community. My family uses the library regularly because it is convenient, has a good selection of books, magazines, CDs, etc and offers an opportunity to meet other BH residents. Please do not reduce services or close the BH branch.

Debbie Lapointe | Keeping libraries in the communities is a great source of learning and connection - one that would be sorely missed by many. It would be such a mistake to cut library funding.

Beverley Allaire | To me libraries are a place of many resources. With the growing need to decrease our demand of books and information on paper we can at least minimize some tree resources by having books readily available through the library.
