Karen Luttrell | Please protect library funding and keep our communities strong!
William H Porter | As a Peacekeeping veteran of places where children suffer from a lack of a free flow of information from libraries I am appalled that Ottwa has chosen to s-pend money on a conference centre while cutting library funding to one of the lowest if not the lowest in Canada. I am ashamed of this city.

Rachelle Cyr-Kelderman | My children love going to their bibliothèque. They learn to care for the books and respect other people's property. They learn to share. They learn to be excited about going there and listening to the librarians reading. And it is free!!! Please provide more funding to this invaluable resource.
Art Bowles | Literacy is a cornerstone of a progressive society, keep the library's open. Find some other non essential service to cut, or better yet, fire those city road planners and hire a private firm. The new Inness road is a horrible design with all those costly lights every 400 meters.
Brittany | as a kid and a student i have loved my local library!!
Lucien Picard | If all the libraries are closed people will start beign dumb like the people at the city council.
Catherine McDonald | Our current libraries function and plan in a manner that greatly enhances the possiblity of our communites and city becoming the kind of society that will make us proud.

Michael W. Porter | When valuable service organizations like libraries are treated like business "bottom lines" such ludicrous proposals are likely to arise.
Katherine Tinkler |
Deborah McPhedran | The notion that Rosemount branch might close or suffer reduced hours/staffing runs counter to common sense. Hintonburg, which it serves, is one of the poorer neighbourhoods in the city. That library is a vital resource for the education of both children and adults in that area.
Michelle | Save the library it is a core service!

Lowell & Lise Butters | My wife & I are retired and living in Blackburn Hamlet. We have utilized our library for years and currently visit it at least two times per week, every week. Loss of this valuable service will clearly impact our quality of life.
Lori Nash | As president of the Friends of te Ottawa Public Library Association I encourage everyone who cares about libraries to express their concern and outrage that any city would every think to close library branches or cut services. We need more library services...a new central library to replace our crumbling main library , a new West District Library, and more children's services.

Chris Ingersoll | The library systems are so vital to our youth and families and so important to the education system. Closing down any libraries is just not a viable solution to budget problems. Please find another way to solve this.
Robert Paiement | As a family we appreciate the services provided by our local library. As we invest more in this city, we should not close down such services.
| 31 | Linda Richard | Libraries have been an integral part of the education and enjoyment of the public since before the time of the ancient Romans. Public libraries are often considered an essential part of having an educated and literate population. My husband and I moved to the Ottawa area (specifically, Osgoode) in part because we value the public services that are provided in the Capital region. We use our library at least twice a week and would be severely inconvenieced to have to visit another library in the area. Libraries provide an exceptional value on the dollars spent on their behalf. Please do not cripple our communities looking for a cost savings. Libraries are essential.

Anne Taylor | Please raise our taxes rather than cut funding to our services.
Terry Partridge |
| 45 | Celeste Cote | Having an educated population is very important. Key to education is access to information.
As a young university student, I can say I'm of the "internet generation", but believe it or not, you can't get EVERYTHING on the internet these days. Libraries are still relevant. It is still refreshing to pick up a book (free of cost!) and go read it in a park on a sunny day. Please don't deprive the people of Ottawa of this pleasure! |
