The petition

Dartmouth swimming pool and sports center is a well established education and recreational resource. It now finds itself under threat of demolition to make way for a Business acedemy. We stongly believe that this would be of a great loss not only to dartmouth but to the community as a whole. In the local area there is already a lack of swimming facilitys that are oversubscribed.

We are told by the Chancellor of the Exchequer that we have to do more sport.

Stephen Twigg MP has a Swimming Charter, he states it is vitally important that schools teach children to swim, for their safety and their health. He states that it is the best all round sport for developing Physical and social skills.

Richard Coborn Minister of Sport states that sport is crucial in tackling obesity and discipline and that it should be available to all, including the "have nots".
