| 1003 | Paula Heidman Best | It saddens me greatly to think that the program and Chapman would be dissolved. Southern Ca needs this program as do the future families, treatment facilities, nursing homes, schools, hospice, etc. as this esatblishment and program is the foundation of wonderful music therapists to come! |

| 1005 | Mary Botsch | I believe it would be a shame to eliminate the Music Therapy Program. Our society needs young people who are willing to use their talents to minister to others. This type of program produces people who are "other" oriented instead of self centered. Please keep this program alive. |

| 1010 | David and Saren Saenz | My name is David Saenz and my daughter Saren is currently 14 years old. Saren had a brain-injury at birth. Saren is an awesome kid whose life is filled with music therapy on a daily basis. If you did not already have a program I wouldn't write to you about adding. But please do not make the mistake of cutting your program. Please call me to talk more on how this program could benefit your University internationally. David and Saren Saenz, 517-673-4912 |

| 1017 | David Highbaugh | I'm a parent of a Chapman student, and after reading that beautiful article about the music therapy program in the latest Chapman magazine, I cannot believe that the University would discontinue it. |
| 1018 | Dawn Lyon MA ADTR | I have been working in mental health as a dance therapist for 25 years and have seen the impact of the creative arts therapies on the patients. The music therapists with whom I have worked have offered experiences to the patients that have been invaluable. I whole heartedly support the continuation of any program training clinicians to do this wonderful work.
Sincerely, Dawn Lyon MA ADTR |

| 1023 | Laura Kanofsky | This is such disheartening news...I imagine'that the administration of Chapman is well aware of the myriad benefits of music therapy--and of its validity as a legitimate scientific discpline. I'm guessing this decision has something to do with the bottom line...something we can all understand. But please look beyond this. The fact that the transmission of music therapy curriculum is not conducive to giant lecture halls should not warrant its death. We know there are greater and greater numbers of students seeking this career path in California and elsewhere, and a greater clinical need than ever. Please do the right and needed thing.
Sincerely, Laura Kanofsky MT-BC, LCSW (and graduate of the former incarnation of Chapman when at Cal State Long Beach) |
| 1024 | Sarah Chaffin | Grandmother of a current music therapy major at Chapman. I feel like this will be a great loss to the community and to our children's education. These student's should not be shortchanged for the quality of the education that was promised when they were admitted and decided to attend this institution. |
| 1025 | Ken Chaffin | Grandfather of current muisc therapy major at Chapman. I support this students and ensuring that they get the best quality education for the money the spend. I know that one of the reasons our grandchild choose this school was because of this specific program and the samller size and feel of this school. The administration poorly handled this situation by not giving the student's any prior notice in case they felt that the expenses for attending this college would be a better investment elsewhere. |
| 1026 | Rocio Pelayo | Music Therapy may be a small field of study but yield tremendous results. Let Chapman University be part of the help! |
| 1027 | Tammy Reiver | MT Professional |
| 1028 | Shirley Bayard | Dropping the Music Therapy Major ar Chapman U will be a loss to the University and a loss to the community. Please considered your decision carefully. |

| 1032 | Corrie Vasquez | I am a parent of a student who was in the music therapy program. I believe music therapy is an important part of the overall music program. What better way to express the good music can do in addition to performing. It's a shame this program is so little valued by the board of Chapman University. I love the school and what it stands for and am very disappointed in this decision. |
| 1033 | Corrie Vasquez | I am the parent of a graduate from Chapman who was in the music therapy program. I believe music therapy is an awesome field, and what better way to show the importance and value of music in addition to performance enjoyment. I loved the school and what it stands for but am very disappointed in the decision of the board to eliminate the program. |

| 1035 | Jennifer Pipp | I am an applicant for admission to Chapman University as a transfer student into the Music Therapy program. I was not informed that the program has been cut until today, May 27, 2008, as a result of a call initiated by me to the admissions office inquiring about the status of my application. I was shocked and disappointed to learn that the program is being phased out and is not admitting new students. Additionally, I am appalled to learn, by reading this petition, that this decision had been communicated to current Chapman students over a month ago. |
| 1036 | Janice Pipp | I am a parent of a student applicant for the Music Therapy program. I am especially distressed that my daughter was not informed of this decision until yesterday, 5/27/08, a full month after the current students were informed. Southern CA needs a university offering this program. |

| 1044 | Jim Pipp | As usual the academic community is in their own "little world". My daughter applied to enter this program many months ago and she was just informed on 5/28 the program is scheduled to be cancelled. In addition she also found out (on 5/28)the current students were informed of this potential action on 4/24 and will be allowed to complete their program. This type of action is insulting and demonstrates the total disregard for all potential new applicants to the program. It must be wonderful to be tenured and live in your own "little world" with no reguard to the impact your lack of communication creates. My daughter is a gifted, talented and caring person and your total lack of regard for her as a person is very distressing to me and only confirms my feelings about academia only being concerned about their own "little world". |
