| 903 | Rev. Koni Purscell | As a clergy woman in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and the mother of a music therapy student, I think it is important to expand the field of music therapy. The best place to do that would be in a music conservatory in a university with an emphasis in science.
thank you,

| 927 | Penny Armato | As the Coordinator of Volunteer Services for 18 years, I would like to express my concern for the demise of this program. Music therapy is a vital component for our therapuetic mileu at Metropolitan State Hospital, located in Norwalk Ca. I am a Recreation Therapist by profession and have been employed at Metropolitan since 1971. Our Department of Rehabiltation Services benefits and values the diversity of its staff, includung music, art, movement and recreation modalities.
Through music (listening and/or playing), our individuals with psychiatric issues, are able to express themselves in many ways. We value the internship program and are always eager for the placement of music interns and Music Therapists on our residents' units.
I support reconsideration of this decsion by the Administration of Chapman University. |

It will be a great lost if there is no music therapy program at Chapman University. |
| 929 | Lyndsy Adamson | As a past President of the Music Therapy Student Association at the University of Windsor I cannot express how much this grieves me.
As performers some of our music therapy students are top in their class, recieving awards, bursaries and public performance opportunities.
When a music therapy student uses a musical instrument their focus and attention is not on their own performance but rather their clients needs, responses and body language. While one may argument this puts the music last, it is naught, but rather the music must be so innate that is occurs with ease and skill. The ability to observe, improvise and respond using music is of the highest cognitive demands.
Every business, as University is a business, falls into the realm of quantative values when assessing worth. Small classes are vital when educating music therapy students as their education is three fold; musical, music therapy theory/skill and lastly the ability to be a therapist. Our professors guide, mentor and in four short years train us into being empathetic and highly skilled individuals. Our abilities include quantative research analysis and our career is demanding for qualified music therapists.
Science or Art? Can you decide which Da Vinci invention was worth more then his paintings? Can you measure the worth of bringing peace to a family during their loved ones last hours? |
| 930 | Nicole Surprenant | Save music therapy!!!!! I couldn't imagine doing anything else with my life than helping people by doing what I do best and love most, MUSIC! Music therapy is so much more than what it sounds like. |

| 940 | Larry Feldman | I graduated from the program when it was housed at Cal State Long Beach. It is a shortsighted decision to cut a program for a growing field whose possiblities are just being discovered. |

| 945 | Andrew Cook-Feltz | Music therapy is an innovative and outstanding resource to those seeking professional healing and care. It would be a great detriment to our society to remove a music therapy degree program from any institution providing it. The consequences of such an act will grow as quickly as the number of patients who will be lacking a key component of their wellness. Please, please do not allow this program to be "phased out." Ensure that it may remain phased in. |
