I think it is very beneficial to many people in the area; Scouters and Guiders are engaged in an altenative learning environment but with fun and games to keep them occupied. In addition to this, it gives the parents a chance to have a break from the everyday stress of childcare.
Between the Scouts, Cubs, Brownies and Guides, there are many volunteers willing to help out with the organisations and who also enjoy what the scout hut has to offer.
I personally got involved with Brownies through the Duke of Edinburugh's award scheme, and the help that not only the other leaders gave me, but also the Brownies, has been a huge help to me.
It would be a huge shame for the scout hut to be demolished, so i urge you to reconsider. |
| 14 | Robert Short | The council are fools if they think that building houses is more valuble than the work that is happening at the Scout hut already |
| 15 | mark drury | I would do almost anything to ensure this great centre to our community and legacy to our children is preseved.
My late father, Philip Drury was involved for many years raising funds for 2nd Brewood scouts and I myself have enjoyed all that this great scout club has to offer for many years. The building itself has survied fire, burst pipes. Coutless hours of hard work by volenteers has ensured that this facility will be there to support the development of future generations. I believe every single resident of Brewood should be outraged by this poor decision. |
| 16 | Tom Kent | The county council's youth services claims it is:
"inspiring young people to realise their potential as positive members of society"
Hmmmm they sure seem to be achieving this in Brewood don't they?
Staffordshire county council is a absolute joke...
I say we storm the council buildings
Has it really come to this? |

| 18 | Christine Wells | Scouting & Guiding is essential in this day & age. It offers children moral guidance and a safe environment for them to try and discover more adventurous activities in this sedentary age. |
| 19 | Sarah Wetton | Totally agree with your cause and give you my full support from Scouting in Yorkshire. Talking to other people youre not the only ones - why is local councils seem to always pick on well established, proven, charity organisation? Keep up the good work, you have my backing |
| 20 | Steve Askew | It is totally unacceptable for this facility to be removed. |

| 23 | Katie Garner | Scouting and Guiding is such an important and rewarding pursuit for young people. To demolish the current hut without making provisions for a new hut or location os appalling. |

| 25 | Daniel Smith | It is Ludicrous that the government are trying to increase youth provision and the council seem to think that knocking down a scout hut is compatible with their plans! |

| 31 | Helen Taylor | I have been part of the Scout and Guide association since I was very young and cannot believe that Staffordshire County Council are prepared to stand by and let Brewood Scout and Guide Hut be demolished. It's appalling already how local councils are failing to provide enough activities for children without them deciding to destroy the buildings in which the existing voluntary organisations operate. I think the council should seriously rethink their decision. |

| 35 | April Rose | This is a disgrace to even consider closing the scout huts which are a vital part of Brewood life and providing safe places for children to play and remain children in a world where childhood grows ever shorter. |
| 36 | gregory roberts | we can't have scout huts being destroyed to make room for more housing. scouting brings communities together and anything that makes it harder for scouting leaders to do the job can only be bad |

| 46 | Richard Prendergast | I am discussed to hear that the very limited services to young people in Brewood is about to get smaller due to the ever growing greed of the Brewood Parish Council. As a youth worker of the last 10 years i have an understanding of the frustration of the young people of the village. The council feels that they have made a skate park so they are now able to take away with the other hand. The young people of this village have for years been given a hard time and blamed for hanging and 'up to no go' around the village and they want to remove the service from them, discusting, if the council is wanting to knock the huts down then are they going to rebuild a brand new state of the art youth centre with the profits, as they have dne in other local areas. |
| 47 | Marion Halfpenny | In these days when there are so many problems with young people joining gangs and showing antisocial behaviour surely closing a facility such as this is not very far- sighted. The excellent work done by the Guide and Scout movements needs to continue with proper in expensive meeting facilities which most councils would want to maintain. I urge you to reconsider you plans. |

| 49 | Jimmy Gibbons | Save this facility, more community buildings are needed not less. |
| 50 | Marie Stephens | Isnt it typical that Brewood council need more land to build large and unneeded houses! Havent they done enough to Engleton Lane?? |
